MUSIC Thanks. I love my music, but I don't have an IPod, so I am glad the "Old Fashion" items are out there.
Back from a brief hiatus, but you'd swear they've never left
" The lyrically catchy track delves into issues about leaving home and finding one's self. The Good
3 Doors Down are back and come out swinging with the blusey hard rocker "Train. "Citizen/Soldier" is a steady track devoted to the men and women serving our country. 3 Doors Down has had many a song associated with soldier tributes so it was only natural the penned this one. The twist here is more about home support rather than support abroad. "It's Not My Time" is another instant hit for the band. If you don't find this chorus catchy, then you must be dead. The lyrics of "Pages" seem to be quite personal for Brad Arnold. The track is about song lyrics that mean nothing if they are never heard or read. "These Days" is a mellow track about whether to break up or stay together. "Your Arms Feel Like Home" is a tender and heartfelt ballad about how love brings us to the place where we feel most comfortable.
The Bad
The album runs a little short for a full-length (45 min). They wanted until the fourth album to call it self-titled?
The Verdict
3 Doors Down are back from a brief hiatus, but you'd swear they've never left. It's another album jam-packed with hard rocking riffs, smoothed over with blusey guitar runs and soulful vocals. You can't dismiss the killer ballads that will melt the coldest heart either.
ugh, no way
At first I was like "Hmmm, this vocal melody is pretty good" but after hearing that vocal melody only two more times I realized this is horribly generic alternative rock. Is there *anything* good about this album? I first heard music from this 3 Doors Down album by that freakin' commercial with the cavemen called "Let Me Be Myself". I went online to find out what band would sing such a bad song and got my answer right away- these guys.
Someone please tell me what's the difference between this and Creed, Pearl Jam, and other alternative rock bands? Not much of a difference at all. It's just music that wasn't very good in the first place that has stuck around a lot longer than it should have. . . and it's *still* going. How many more years will we have to put up with this kind of generic music?
I'm not going to sit here and bash the album to pieces, but please, there's thousands of bands from the 80's and before that write vocal melodies a lot better than this. The rest of the album has some decent songs, but it's not a classic recording. It's simply not.
