Flower-Power Most of the songs are sugarsweet and funny but in a way that you can still listen to them without getting mad. FLower-Power, love and party that's what you find on this album. I really like their Best of-album. A great pop-CD. Each song is good but I can't listen to it every day because the songs are so cheesy but when I do I really enjoy it.
C'EST LA VIE:(Always 21) Being young forever begins in your heart. They're right.
THE SIGN: This was one of their biggest hits from 1994.
BEAUTIFUL LIFE: Dance-Pop like we had in Europe in the middle of the 90'S.
HALLO HALLO: A happy summer-popsong.
ALWAYS HAVE ALWAYS WILL: One of their newer songs from the album "Flowers" wich was "Cruel summer" in America.
LOVE IN DECEMBER: One of my favorites is this fast Dancesong.
ALL THAT SHE WANTS: Another hit. Nice summertune.
LIVING IN DANGER: Quite good.
EVERYTIME IT RAINS: This is the only ballad. Very soft and romantic. Worth listening to (D'ya say so?)
DON'T TURN AROUND: A song about letting go after relationships. Great lyrics great melody.
CRUEL SUMMER: This dance-song is a cover. Well done.
HAPPY NATION: This sounds fareastern. Cool.
LUCKY LOVE: This is almost too cheesy. Almost.
NEVER GONNA SAY I'M SORRY: This is a great song. I like the lyrics.
LIFE IS A FLOWER: This might be interesting for you guys: It's "Whenever you're near me" with other lyrics. I think it was not on the "Cruel summer"-album.
WHEEL OF FORTUNE: Nice song but none of my favourites.
This is the greatest hits you need
And SINGLES OF THE 90'S is definitely worth its price, just because of the new tracks (C'est la vie, Hallo Hallo and Love in december). I got this CD when I went to Sydney, because México suffered the same faith as the US and we got the "GREATEST HITS" album (which absolutely sucks and I wouldn't recommend at all). There are also 2 tracks previously unavailable in America: Lucky love (original version) and Life is a flower. As for the other songs (sure, you'll find The sign, Beautiful life or Cruel summer) , I strongly suggest listening to the original albums (there are great songs that were not singles: Dancer in a daydream, Ravine, Strange ways, Blooming 18. . . ).
Finally, it's a shame that the record company keeps on releasing different albums in Europe and América. . . There are still many AoB I haven't got because of this (Munchausen, Dr. Sun, You and I). if you can get the european versions, they're much better than the ones we have around here!.
Forget the stereotypes
This collection is much better than the US "Greatest Hits" since it includes the new, super- catchy "Hallo Hallo", and the European classics "Wheel of Fortune" and "Happy Nation". If you think you know Ace Of Base from their hits like "All That She Wants" or "The Sign, think again. There are unknown-to-American gems like the outstanding "Life Is A Flower" (with great harmonies and incredible music) and the vocally and lyrically strong "Everytime It Rains". It's got a great remix of "Cruel Summer", as well as other hits like "Lucky Love" and "Don't Turn Around". Despite the long and unnecessary remix of "Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry", this disc is filled with catchy themes and good harmonies. Ok, they might not be the best singers in the world or have the most profound lyrics, but this collection has some great stuff that will keep you coming back for more and more.
Outstanding Collection
None of the sixteen tracks need to be skipped. This is a very good collection. The famous hits are still fun to hear and the "new" songs are just as good if not better. This Import CD is worth the extra money over the AoB Greatest Hits (USA edition) since it includes several additional songs which happen to be great.
Defenitely worth the cost- an excellent greatest hits cd!
This is the European release for Ace of Base's less successful, less worthwhile American cd "Greatest Hits". Ace of Base dust off all of their hit singles and pack them together along with three great new tracks for "Singles of the 90s". Since it is an import, it cost me $30, but it's worth it- Ace of Base are the greatest band in the world, aren't they?
With the reggae-dance-pop of their hits "All That She Wants", "The Sign", "Living In Danger", "Happy Nation", "Don't Turn Around", and "Wheel of Fortune", which made Ace of Base one of the biggest selling groups of the 1990s, to the Mowtown-flavored tracks "Always Have, Always Will" and "C'est La Vie (Always 21)", you could consider this just a review of the band's work in the 90s and an introduction for what's to come in the new millennium! Defenitely worth the money, worth everything in the world! Defenitely better than GREATEST HITS. You've got to get this cd!.
