Too much melodica..>! But, a great recording nonetheless...I found it to be a recording that runs together. . . Not much stands out. . . .
Until one plays the songs in a shuffle with other albums. Then one hears the fact that each song is good, some are great. . . . . The melodica track from one song plays through too many tracks, but I love the CD.
The packaging of the version I picked up in Europe is a book, no jewel case, very beautiful. That was what drew me, besides the fact that anything from SeneMaliGambia is worth a try, IMHO>.
1 track great. the rest run together.
Its a majical moment when all things just click. As far as I am concerned this record stops and starts with the first track "Spoons". Too bad you can't listen to the track here on Amazon. .
Africans did not get ripped off according to the man himself
It truly defines and explores music as a universal language - appealing to both locals and new listeners. This record is a fine piece of work and represents a spirit of music that seems to be loss in the hype of manufactured bollocks.
To be fair, below is a quote to disprove what review djiembefola "a do-it-your-selfer" has to say above in his review 'Africans get Ripped-off Again'. I feel it is only fair that someone stand up to loose slandering. The quote was taken from an interview with Alburn that spoke all about his work with the Malian musicians. . .

Damon Damon Damon...what a boy
Hands down. This is a beautiful record. The musical textures and rhythmic layers are soothing and gorgeous. Listen to it with an open ear, it grows on you after 1 listen. From there on out, its musical bliss! Damon and Co. rule!.
this music is my heart beating...
Damon , Damon , Damon. .
mmm. . . this music is the greatest thing in my life.
I think Damon achieved his end in music when he went to Mali.
His voice is more peaceful and natural so I hope to go to Mali.
Above all I knew Damon had considered carefully when he made 'Think Tank'.
'Think Tank' is certainly related with this album.
My favorite is 'Sunset coming on'. . .
Tears come into my eyes when I listen to this song,,
It seems to be Damon's feeling. . . I think so. . .
Mali Music is like my heart beating, and fresh meeting.
Thank you Damon,, lovely Damon.
