Fantastic CD
These guys were awesome then and still are. First rock and roll concert I ever attended was the Allman Brothers. Definitely should be in everyone's collection. Easy, mellow listening.

Def. A great Classic Rock Gem!
I'd heard of them, but was not really in the mood to download them since I have ton of old music that i listen to. Orginally, wasn't too familiar with the allman brothers band. I decided to get their best hits album, and I thought most of it was pretty good. I really enjoy their rough garage rock sound, and though the lead singer's vocals were pretty standard for a rock singer. I was afraid that this album would be a bit too much on the country side, but I was glad that they didn't stray away from the rock sound. Overall, my favorite songs that I really like were southbound ramblin man, and whipping post. I really liked the folksy blueness of this band. They seem to remind me alot of the Doobie Brothers which were propably competing against them in the charts during this time frame. .

Classic Rock Favorite
Even the ones I didn't know were terrific. I didn't realize how many Allman Brothers songs I knew until I purchased this CD. This is a great compilation CD of their best work, in my opinion. I have nearly worn this CD out over the years. .

The Allman Brothers Band - "The Glory Years" - Including Some Guitar Performances by the "late/great" Duane Allman!!!!!!
How about a "Big Thanks" to all the previous reviewers who gave this one a 5 star rating!!!! This is an excellent 16 song cd of the Allman Brothers Band "classic hits & songs". There have already been plenty of reviews on this one, so I'll just point out a few things.

You get songs like "Statesboro Blues", "Ramblin'Man", "Midnight Rider", "Southbound", "Melissa", "Jessica", "Revival", "Blue Sky" "One Way Out", "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", "Dreams", "Whipping Post" and others.

This is a great cd, and I highly recommend it. Thanks!!!

One of the finest anthologies out there!
All of their first four albums are superb but this CD captures the essence of those. The Allmans Brothers Band was one of the greatest rock groups in the world and this CD is the one to own if you don't want to drag out 4 or 5 CD's to hear your favorite cuts. I'm sure there will be a favorite missing, like "Done Somebody Wrong" one of my faves, but if you're looking for one CD that captures their magic, this is the best one to have. I saw them a few times live between 1970 and 1971, and they were the finest live band I've ever seen. I recommend all of their first five albums, but if you don't have the time, money or room, this CD is your logical choice. Outstanding and if I was on a desert island, this would be one of my picks. .
