Has "Riverside" Brings back lots of memories. Great album. It's the only place I can find "Riverside".
Poor Quality CD
I wrote yours off as sunken cost. I received my CD's and when I played them they were full of skips I was so PO'D I tossed the discs in the trash and went to a music store and purchased new ones. I am a good customer but I will not buy Poor Quality merchandise, and this is not the 1st time I have received items in poor condition, but it is the Last.
Dewey Sings Neil? Perhaps...
And why not? Neil's vocal influence is clear and present, as are the CSN harmonies. When I first heard "Horse With No Name", of course the music of Neil Young sprang immediately to mind.
But my dirty little secret is, I no longer listen to CSN. And although I have owned every Neil album through the early 90's (and have been a huge Neil fan throughout much of my life), I don't listen to him much either nowadays.
But 35 years down the line, I find the songs on "America" have retained their melodic and harmonic beauty. Written by Bunnell, Beckley and Peek as young men, songs like "Clarice, Here, Riverside, Rainy Day, Three Roses, Horse With No Name" are still perfect songs. A musical timepiece that I suspect my children's children may listen to and enjoy.
Here Comes America
Well, they had a few singles off this album, another being "I Need You" and had a gold album. I got the vinyl of this one years ago and never thought as time went on that this one would stand the test of time but it did! When "Horse With No Name" came out I really thought it was another Neil Young follow-up to "Heart Of Gold". The CD is great even today and highly recommend it as well as seeing them "Live" which I did a few years back. visit my website "Judemac Forever" google it and say "Hi". One other side note, the songs pulled off this one for the America Greatest Hits collection in the 1970's were remixed by George Martin of Beatles fame.
A True Gem
I was a junior in high school when this album hit the airwaves. . Hooked on America ever since. . . they were ahead of their time when it came to their craft. . . They are still going strong. . . Thanks for the memories.
