An Interesting Concept Inspired by Eminem's statement that words are just words and cannot hurt anybody, Tori sets out to prove him wrong. Tori Amos releases a record that is covers from male artists. There is much to be admired about this record, but it isn't a masterpiece. And, I'm not completely convinced that Tori really accomplishes her mission, which was to show that words can hurt. Some of the best tracks on the record are ones that Tori still performs today like Rattlesnakes and Heart of Gold. My favorite track on the record is the title track, but I don't think I have ever heard her perform it. I have seen Ms. Amos approximately 50 times in concert, so I think I get to classify myself as an EWF (her term for her fans). To Tori library is complete without this record, but if I were new to Tori, this isn't the record I would start with. I will say this: Hearing '97 Bonnie and Clyde in concert was one of the scariest moments in my life. And I loved every second of it. I also enjoyed the little 2-song EP that came out with it, but I think it is very rare and hard to find.
"She survived but she's feeling old..."
I prefer her other imports like Winter and Hey Jupiter but this import contains two b-sides. Strange Little Girl import by Tori Amos is good but not brilliant. The first b-side is a cover of David Bowie's After All and the second is another cover of Alice Cooper's Only Women Bleed. Tori is great at tackling covers but these two leave me a little disappointed, only buy this import if you are a huge Tori freak like me!

Only Women Bleed
I like these songs. . I like where her head is in creating the concept behind these releases. . . Something about it just doesn't work for me. .

I had already heard the title track "Strange Little Girl" and loved it. Being a huge fan of Tori Amos I was hugely excited to get this single. It was a very radio friendly track, which was odd because Tori is not usually radio friendly. However, a title track does not make a CD worthwhile, instead we find two extra covers not featured on the StrangeLittleGirls album. Luckily what stands here are two outstanding b-sides. Both have a piano ballad feel to them, which I love. Tori's voice is amazing and the piano is beautiful on both tracks. "After All", a David Bowie cover, is haunting, yet fulfilling at the same time. A great cover. "Only Women Bleed" is even better. It is absolutely astounding. Who knew an Alice Cooper cover could be so soft and inviting. Overall, a great CD. A bit pricy(I found it cheaper on ebay), but well worth it to any Toriphile.
Strange little songs
She is my favorite solo artist of all time. I love Tori Amos. Everything she has put out has turned to gold. Although "Strange Little Girls" album was a bit of a hit and miss in terms of Tori accomplishing what she wanted with the concept of the album but her choices in cover songs is always interesting. I bought the import single of "Strange Little Girl" a couple of years ago for the b-sides. I love the b-sides on Tori's singles. They are either cover songs or previously unrealeased tracks that didn't make it on to the album. I haven't heard the original version of "After All" but I did thoroughly enjoy Tori's haunting rendition of the David Bowie song. Now "Only Women Bleed" was really interesting to hear. I have heard the Alice Cooper version but I must say that I liked Tori's version a lot more. I have always thought "Only Women Bleed" would have been perfect on the album "Strange Little Girls" because of the provocative lyrics and the results Tori got out of it when she sang it from her point of view.
