Hard Rock at its finest. Sign of the Gypsy Queen and Future Tense are Heavy Rock masterpieces. This CD rocks from beginning to end. If you like Les Paul's, Marshall Amps and great vocals. Push add to cart. Every song is at least very good and most are awesome.
pre mtv rockstars
I had been into April Wine for a few years before. I was at this show in the day. They were basically underground before this album. Other than a video that played on various pre mtv incarnations. Great show and album. And one of two April Wine's albums newbies and die hards must own. The other being of course Harder Faster.
April wine just a memory
Typical studio rock late 70's early 80's had the vinyl in youth just had to get cd good but not great.
Still good after all of these years!
I already own this on LP. . . CD is just that much better. . . Amazon got it to me quickly as usual. . . shop here with confidence!!.
A Rock And Roll Classic
the vocals are actually quite good, the songwriting is catchy (the songs WILL get stuck in your head, trust me) and the guitar solos are pretty darn good!
some of the lyrics are a little cheesy (like big city girls)
but the whole CD is very worthy of having in your collection
for pure rock and roll this is a perfect example to play for people
the upside - sign of the gypsy queen, just between you and me,crash and burn, and caught in the crossfire
the downside - really can't think of any. this is what early 80s rock and roll sounded like!
If you lived in 1981 there is no way that you didn't hear of April Wine and this is the album that put them on the map!
The big hits were 'Sign Of The Gypsy Queen' and the beautiful ballad 'Just Between You And Me' but the whole album is very good
the songs and production sound a little bit dated now (especially the cheesy keyboards in 'caught in the crossfire') but you know what, that is what makes this charming! I love listening to this and remembering my childhood. . . for the time period this was just about perfect
the bottom line - especially at this price, you should buy this piece of the early 80s. . . no collection is complete without April Wine 'The Nature Of The Beast' donutman says so!!!.
