An amazing record
Burt Bacharach has produced the finest record of his career. What can I say. A beautiful, heartfelt and incrediby melodious album that I can't stop playing. Please keep recording Burt. Your music is timeless and we the world needs you now - more than ever. From Canberra Australia, I salute you Mr Bacharach.

utterly sumptuous
Dre on this album. Burt Bacharach makes more beautiful music with help from masters like Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright, Chris Botti and even Dr. This CD is a pleasure to listen to over and over again; and I highly recommend it for any fan of today's "easy listening" types of pop and rap music.

The CD track set starts with "Please Explain. " The rap beat mixed with a more typical Bacharach use of the strings and piano makes a strong musical accompaniment for the vocals by John Pagano, Josie James and Donna Taylor. These singers deliver a great message about how the world needs peace NOW; people need to find reasons to love another rather than hate one another. "Where Did It Go?" is another song that laments the high crime rates and other problems in our cities and more rural places; John Pagano, Josie James and Donna Taylor do a great job on vocals while the keyboards, percussion, saxophone and cello carry the bulk of the melody. "Where Did It Go?" continues to blend together a traditional Burt Bacharach arrangement and a type of rap melody for a uniquely modern, "hip and happenin'" sound. Great!

"Is Love Enough?" ponders if the love between two people can weather the test of changing times and the problems of society; Dr. Dre helps out on drum loop and Jim Cox on keyboards is very good! In addition, "Dreams" is a touching song about how someone will always be there for their beloved no matter what happens. Burt himself plays the piano very well; and Billy Childs is on a wurlitzer. "Dreams," a number Burt Bacharach co-wrote with Chris Botti, sparkles like gold. I predict that you will enjoy "Dreams" very much.

"Danger" is an instrumental number with a heavy rap influence mixed again with Burt's marvelous work on both piano and keyboards. Listen also for Dan Higgins on alto saxophone! "Fade Away" has a stunningly beautiful musical arrangement with Burt on piano and Jim Cox on keyboards. Josie James sings the brief lyrics very nicely.

The liner notes have great artwork; and we get the lyrics and credits for all the tracks on this CD.

Burt Bacharach deserves much credit for this CD. He proves here that he can change with the times as he embraces a more modern type of music that comes off as a blend of rap and soul. When he superimposes his more traditional arrangements onto this canvas, the results are magical.

Bravo, Burt Bacharach!

he just moved me
i have burts early sounds, kind of fluffy and simple. . then got into the elvis costello and ron isley duos, which showcased a talent that has matured and enriched those lyrics with new meaning and soul from deep down inside. i just listened to "at this time" , and heard a new side to bacharach that brings you along his life time's journey of asking "where and why". it is all set into a memorable background that only he can produce. i know i will listen to this cd many times and reflect on my own
life and what i am leaving behind. judith walden.

I thought at first it was another one of those greatest hits
compilation things of his music I've seen so often before. I was at a Border's store browsing the cd's and my eyes zeroed in on this
cd on sale. After looking
at it, I realized this is a NEW Burt Bacharach release with NEW material
by him. As fate would have it, this was the day after the horrible vio-
lence at Va. Tech University. I was still in a state of shock like so many
others. The first song "Please Explain" just stunned me with its relevance
and lyrics. "Where Did It Go", "Who Are These People?", "Go Ask Shake-
Speare". My God, the genius has struck again with another soundtrack for
the sounds of our times. This cd has touched me very deeply. I have
probably listened to it 30 times. I have all of Bacharach's recordings.
I first started listening to him when I was 13 with his fabulous "Reach
Out" album. There will NEVER be another Burt Bacharach. EVER. This cd
is another masterpiece in a long line of masterpieces. I only hope
there's enough time for 1 more release of his brilliant art. I consider
myself so fortunate to have grown up with this genius's music, and I
dread the day he's gone from us. God bless Mr. B.

The music is great.
Unfortunately, his genius does not extend to his understanding of current events or the challenges we face in this country or in the world. Burt Bacharach is truly a master and a genius when it comes to melody, harmony, and rhythm. Some of the hate and anger-filled lyrics distract from what is otherwise a fabulous album. Better to leave the lyric-writing to Hal David.
