Gods Favourite & Mine Too The booklet has great old pix in it & they tell the history of their songs in it. Great cd set! I love Diesel & Power so this cd was awesome for me. I love the old pix. I know the band says you will get a good laugh like they did but not me I loved it! You even get 2 videos for Gods Favourite & Bad To The Bone. I just love every song on it well that Nicke Borg sings. I am sorry the early stuff with Tobias I wasn't feeling it. But when Nicke Borg came aboard as voclalist the songs became more bluesy, more fire to them & gave BYB that Ramones/Social Distortion sound they have today. Good going Dregen with getting Borg to sing, good choice. I am so glad BYB decided to put this out I love it & play it constantly. That's right nothing to be ashamed of guys this cd rocks! Thanx for putting it out there for your fans. Not only Gods Favourite but mine also!!!!.
In the Beginning...
I really had no idea of their history before the Diesel and Power record; and this is just a hardcore fans dream for them to put this out there for us. This is so great they released this set.
The package comes with a nice booklet of liner notes with explanations on how the band progressed through their history and at what point they were during each song. I expected the sound of the earliest recordings to be subpar and the lyrics as they do admit are a bit cheesy and lacking, but many bands start out like this as they find their niche in Rock and Roll.
It does start out pretty funny compared to today's version of the Backyard Babies, but around the end of Disc One, I started to get into some early songs I had not heard. By the time Disc Two starts and I heard "Juicy Lucy", "Like A Child", and "God's Favourite"; I felt they might have made some nice bonus cuts for the Diesel record, which is one of my favs by them still.
Overall, a great introduction to the band for hardcore fans and history buffs I guess who want the real story on their origins and such plus a pretty good selection of earlier songs that appeared on Diesel and Power. Nothing to be ashamed of, guys! .
