The ironic part is that its called "The Epic Years" but many of the songs are from when the band had lost Brett Gruewitz. Its a great CD, but its also ironic.

If you're a collector, you'll probably pick it up for some of the rarer tracks, but this can be a good album to get early on for new fans if they have heard No Substance and such.

Should be a domestic release
I bought All Ages because it has tons of great songs from back when and its kind of a "greatest hits" cd,but i would have to say this is way better, and it should have been a major release not just an import. Well I have every Bad Relegion cd and i have to say this is a must have. All the songs on this ablbum are great and the live songs sound amazing. If your a big BR fan pick this up, a little pricy but worth it! This album is also good for new fans aswell.

oh, also check out The Process of belief.

Good collection
Just picked up the CD on a recent trip to Japan and it, like all other Bad Religion CDs, rocks!. Have to say I was a little surprised to read above that the CD won't work in a PC, as I'm listening to it on my computer right now.

If you can't hear the quality, you're deaf.
. . I cannot see why any bad religion fan can discount the 'No Substance' album, unless they happen to be the type who thinks Bad Religion is the end-all-be-all and smell the resentment of this very behavior that permeates the album. Similarly, the No Substance tracks are attacked for this reason. The only problem I have with the album 'Punk Rock Songs' is the inclusion of Digital Boy, as after hearing the song some 40+ thousand times, and having way too many people tell me, "Bad Religion? Don't they do that 'digital boy' song?" Yeah, really, that's enough to make anyone sick of a song. To continue my point from above, Gray Race, an album attacking a homogenization of the human race, bothers some people with it's harsh interpretation of a possibly bleak future. New America, while it may not have been the strongest of Bad Religion albums, is still a great album, though it did tarnish slightly in the light of No Substance before it, at least for those who understand what the album is really saying. . . While Brett Gurewitz is a great musician, his songs tend to have a more poppy, superficial feel (see Digital Boy, Stranger than Fiction, Walk Away, Atomic Garden, to name a few) against Graffin's more emotional, sometimes deeper songs, i. e. A Walk, Infected, Cease, and The Answer. If you want to contrast the two writing styles once and for all, listen to I want to conquer the world, versus Fsck Armageddon. . . This is Hell. Two very similar songs with two very different writing styles. I'm not saying that Mr. Brett's style is any worse than Greg's, but there are differences that divide the populous of Bad Religion fans into three distinct groups.

The hardcore old-school pro-graffins*, the new-school just-found-bad-religion pro-gurewitz's, and the ones that straddle the line.

* - This isn't to say that all of the older bad religion fans prefer graffin over gurewitz, and vice versa, but this is my personal experience, and there are many exceptions.

THE BEST OF THE WORST
WIth thexception of a few of the live tracks and the songs taken from stranger than fiction. OK well this cd is bad rleigion at their worst.

THe majority of these tracks are taken from the greay race, the new america and the horrible no substance cd. The 3 albums on the epic label. This is without mr brett. . . .

But the songs from stranger than fiction (stranger than fiction, 21st centuary digital boy, infected) are excellent and include mr brett. Also live versions of the answer and the henchman are superb. And there is a couple of b sides and outtakes which the collecter will defanatly be intrested in.

IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE TO START TO GET INTO BAD RELIGION, check out ALL AGES is it a compalation of the first four br cds on epitaph and a few earlyer tracks. That is amazing that cd, every song is perfect. Other great BR is agaisnt the grain recipe for hate, no control. And the latest BR album back on epitaph with mr brett is called THE PROCCESS OF BELIEF and that is a good as the early stuff. Defanatly check that one out.

So if you are intrested in bad religion from when they re on the epic label get stranger than fiction give the grey race, no substance and new america.

If you are a collecter and need this cd for your collection along with tested, check out the european amazon sites, as to them these albums titled imports in america are just standard cds over there so they are normal price.

Anyway my point is if you want so good bad religion pick up all ages, recipe for hate and proccess of belief as those 3 are real winners.
