So Disappointing
About half the songs are remakes of thier previous hits. The music sounded too electronic, and the girls' voices seemed to take a back seat to this kind of sound. Problem is that these songs are not equal to, or better than, the originals. Sadly, I couldn't find any real redeeming value to this disc at all.


Bananarama gets "Exotica"!
Unfortunately this LP was only released as an import, but now you have the opprotunity to own it yourself. Well here it is the release following the LP ""Ultra Violet", which of course is called "Exotica". I first heard of this one when Bananarama had released a remake single of the old Abba tune "Waterloo". I was very excited about this LP release,as I am of the new Lp release of the album "Drama", due out November 17, and includes the single "Move In My Direction". And of course just like "Exotica" I have high expectations! That why I must confess once I recieved my own copy of "Exotica" I was slighty left disappointed and wanting more. . . expecteing more, don't get me wrong the cd is great it's just that out of cd of 12 songs only 8 ofthem were new material the others were reworked versions of old Bananarama tunes likes "I Heard A Rumour", "Robert DeNiro's Waiting". , just to name a few of them, which also are the better remixes. As for the new singles on this LP the highlighted track are as follows: "What You Gonna Do", "Got A Thing For You","Crazy", & a remake of the ole' Wham! hit "Carless Whisper".
But by far the best song on this whole cd is none other than the opening track "If"! So my summary is. . . this cd is worth having but will leave you wanting more but Bananarama does this so ellequently. . . so now we can look fowrad to the new album.


Nice Reflection
The only single (and all are singles less then 4 minutes) I whould like to hear again is "I Heard A Rumour". If your looking for some updated tracks from this group buy it. All are down tempo tracks which seems to be the trend these days. Sadly this is not for true fans like myself. Wishing for a CD of all their 12" singles; ALL OF THEM! Hey. . . . . . . DVD of the singles whould be nice too.


What a real fan likes...
And while the group suffered when one of its original members left, they picked up and carried, only to shrink back to two. As a real Bananarama die hard fan, I accept that not every song is a commercial winner.

Their song book is limited, and their eighties work remains their best -- and this CD has the best mix outside of their music video comp. tape. Works done as a duo in the ninties have a shrill effect on me and I try to avoid them because they lack depth and seem forced at an exagerated beat.


Good times!
As the first track started, I was totally hooked. I bought this CD on a whim chance that it would be good. A cool Euro/Disco tempo with a Banana feel. Of course, this CD has remixes of the girl's most popular songs. Though I must admit, I prefer the new tracks over the remixes. Some of the remixes are bit much. Not horrible, just not what I was looking for. That is the only reason I am rating this CD at a 4 and not a 5. On a side note, when my friends had heard I purchased this CD, they all laughed. But once they finally heard it, they all wanted copies of their own.
