The odds are in your favour
Suck it and see; the odds are in your favour. This is a perfect album.
AF Version Not From Master Tapes
This is probably from some second-gen source. Don't waste your money. Levon Helm has never let anyone use the original master for this album; what makes you think a second-rate "engineer" like Hoffman convinced him?
Just buy the cheaper remaster.

One for the ages
It will brings "tears of joy" every listen( pun intended)and you will listen to it alot. Do yourself a big,big favor and buy this cd!! The band and this alblum ( yea I'm old),are in my view one of the top five Cd's( but not that old) of all time. Just wonderful.

Well balanced band, great album to listen to with both ears
I have this in lp format, which captures much more then a CD in my opinion. In this day and age of music that sounds like a few chords on top of a drum loop, this album is refreshing in it's balance. Songs on this album involve the entire band, you can hear each of their contributions. I've read that this album is on many people's "desert island" list, and I can see why.
The lyrics are simple, the messages are clear, and the music is balanced. A great album to sit down and listen to, unlike many of today's bands whose music is more background noise as we conduct our daily lives. Buy this album, push play or drop the needle, and sit back. It's a trip through a simple time that many of us need to take time to time.
My pick for the greatest album of all time! Timeless!
Well. here we are 40 years after the release of The Band's second album, The Band, and I have come to the conclusion that this is the greatest album of all time. Why? Because it sounds like it could have been recorded in 1865, 1880, 1910, 1930 or 1950. 12 charming American short stories told with wit, wisdom and depth. The musicianship is outstanding but never over the top, just subtle nuances that add texture to the stories told. Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, Garth Hudson and Levon Helm have created a poignant Americana masterpiece. The lyrics may haunt you for the rest of your life. . . . "careful where you step,,and watch what you eat. . . sleep with a light and you got it beat. " My favorites: ALL OF THEM! Every cut is like a Rolls Royce. Outstanding and Timeless! .
