All the most essential tracks are here
I've always thought that this is done in an attempt to get you to buy other of the groups' CDs.
There are a lot of "best of" and "greatest hits" compilations out there that exclude at least one or two essential tracks. But if you want to own only one compact disc by the Band, then this is an excellent choice, although I'd recommend the Band's two-disc compilation, TO KINGDOM COME - THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION, even more.

Of the eighteen tracks, I would have not included only two: "Time to Kill" and "Ain't Got No Home". Instead, in their place, I would have included "Mystery Train" and "Daniel and the Sacred Harp". But the other sixteen are just about the Band's best sixteen.

The Amazon reviewer, Andrew Bartlett, claims that the music on this CD "declines rather steeply on the final tracks" including "Acadian Driftwood"; however, "Acadian Driftwood" is one of the Band's most beautiful, heartfelt and moving songs. It's a personal favorite, and I'm sure it's a favorite of many of you out there. The Band didn't "decline". Music changed but, thankfully, the Band stayed the same. .

A Great BAND
No matter what album/compilation these guys were one of the most inventive groups of the 60's and that is saying something.

Great CD

And one of those bands is the Band, which really is a great Band, mixing a blend of soul, sothern rock and rock and roll to make memorable songs. My parents are pretty cool and listen to many things from the 60s and 70s which has let me hear alot of different rock music that I probably would not have heard otherwise. You just have to listen to The Night They Drove Old' Dixie Down or Cripple Creek and you will be hooked.

I still like my Disturbed albums and the rest, but it is nice to listen to some things with my parents when I come home to visit and enjoy it with them.

Great CD!
A great selection of The Band's best songs. After wearing out the cassette I bought of this album many years ago, I just had to get the CD. If you like classic rock, this is a necessity.

Pleasant Transaction.
A very pleasant transaction. The seller provided fast shipment and the cd was in new condition.
