Eject It has everything you would want in a goth album. This is one of the best Bauhaus albums. Buy it!.
A Forgotten Pleasure Re-lived So I didn't even discover this live album until about ten years later, well into my 20s. After being more of a casual Bauhaus fan due to my discovering them mostly through their offspring bands Tones On Tail and Love & Rockets in the mid-80s, I only sought out the Volume One release when I made the switch to CD land a few years later. And after recently finding it on CD and buying it yet another ten long years later, I must say I really missed out on a really good live album! I mean REALLY good. And bands of the "Goth" genre are not really known for their a)live performances and b)their live recordings. But I must admit Bauhaus is the exception to that rule. As far as dark music goes, I'd say that only The Cure and Echo & The Bunnymen rival such an act from the early 80s.
The energy fits are excellent, as are the "Bella Lugosi's Dead" type of graveyard anthems that are represented here. This band's biggest strength, in my opinion, was their wide array of methods and sounds that they could create yet maintain a very consistent atmosphere. This is in large part due to Peter Murphy's amazing voice and Daniel Ash's extremely underrated skills with a guitar. Of course, there are the usual killer grooves on the bass as well. Just check out "Stigmata Martyr" and "A Rosegarden Funeral of Sores" for great examples of that.
Enough words already. . . . just go get this one if you've ever liked Bauhaus or just like having great live albums in your collection, especially dark and groovy ones.
I won't rate this as a 5 star effort, but only because that's some rarified air in my opinion and shouldn't be given out cheaply to really good, but not historically great, CDs. But that doesn't mean that I didn't thoroughly enjoy almost every song on this album.
Really quite good But my personal favourite is Stigmata Martyr. I agree with all of the positive views expressed by those that wrote before me. Nice creeping bassline. If you're in two minds about buying this album let me solve the problem for you: buy it. Simple, and I've saved you valuable time, that you can now use to listen to one of the best live albums out there. In fact, just buy all of the Bauhaus albums. Then check' em out in concert. They've still got it, and the bass will shake you from the top of your dyed black hair to the tips of your pointy black boots.
Give me more than 5 stars.
Simple as that. The greatest live rock album ever made.
Remember, when the sound man says "Press the eject and give me the tape out of it. " that is the end of the record. The rest of it was added for the CD. It is good but I usualy stop at the sound man because I am old and I had the record and that is where the record is suposed to end.
BAD PRODUCTION ? NO WAY !!!!!! I HAVE THE ORIGINAL EDITION BRITISH VINYL RECORD AND THE SOUND IS GREAT !!!!!! BUT SOMETIMES THE TRANSFER. EVERYTHING STATED BY THE PREVIOUS REVIEWERS IS TRUE EXCEPT MAYBE THE BAD SOUND COMPLAINTS. . . . OR THE DIGITAL MASTERING. . . . OR THE ORIGNAL MASTER TAPES FAIL. . . IT'S NOT UNHEARD OF. ANYWAY THIS IS NOT TO BE ABSENT FROM ANY TRUE BAUHAUS'FAN COLLECTION,AND IT'S WAY BETTER THAN ¨THE FINAL CONCERT ¨ BY LIGHTYEARS !!!!!!!!!.
