Curiosity Only
You are just too curious to pass it up and you think why not? I picked this up having read that the cover was better than the contents. It gets to the point where once you have heard everything by a band and you have that one thing left. There are points here when I could fool myself into thinking this alright music. If wasn't so overproduced I could see it having a slightly lesser chance at being just a lesson in pure mediocrity. Kids may like this as it really does sound like a bad children's record, but please spoil the kids with quality whenever you can. This is not quality Beach Boys music. .

Summer In Paradise Indeed
I've been a Beach Boy Freak for 42 years now, and this is the best this group has done since Sunflower. I don't get it ? This is a great CD. So it was all done electronically--that doesn;t take away from the voices. Summer Of Love is the only downer on this CD, nice try Mikey, but you stink. This CD, is a collectors item now, and finding it in print, is hard. Thats why I bought 2 when it came out. Why they did not reissue this when they reissued the 2-fer's again is beyond me.
John Stamos try's to immitate Dennis with Forever, and comes close. I think Dennis would of approved it.
Don't be so quick to throw this CD in the trash, give it a dozen try's, and I am sure you will change your mind about it.

A Fun Album, and NOT Carl's Last Recordings
It's a fun record, OK? Some nice new songs like Lahaina Aloha, Island Fever, and Still Surfin. I'm a die-hard Beach Boys and Brian Wilson fanatic - and nothing after 1977 is close to 5 stars (unless you count Brian's solo work) - BUT as a lover of tropical music and Beach Boys sounds, I enjoyed their late 70's early 80's work, and the 1985 album, and Kokomo, and Still Cruisin, so when this hit stores I bought it and was immediately impressed with the sounds and harmonies. A great cover of Hot Fun In The Summertime. (but I never listen to the John Stamos thing at the end. . ) Do the recent albums by Chicago or America or Neil Diamond or Paul McCartney sound like or equal the ones from the 60's and 70's? No, but many are still great. Hey, it's Carl Wilson and Mike Love singing about summer!

NOTE: Carl Wilson made another album after this, a great one with Robert Lamm of Chicago and Gerry Beckley of America called BECKLEY LAMM WILSON - "Like A Brother". It was recently reissued with 3 bonus tracks (see Robert Lamm's website).
