Hard to get; worth the wait!
I purchased this album in LP form not long after it hit the market, and I almost literally wore it to a frazzle. This CD was extremely hard to get, but all-in-all, it was certainly worth the wait. When I finally found it on CD through Amazon. com, I was ecstatic! While the CD tracks contain some new material, some re-done older material, and a couple original recordings, I bought it for two reasons: "Still Cruisin'" and "Kokomo!" In my opinion, these are two of the most enjoyable Beach Boys recordings ever, and I will try really hard not to wear out the CD. .

Still crusin"
For a Beach Boy affectionado it is a great find. This cd has some Beach Boys songs that are unavailable from any other source.

party all summer long
it has some songs from the '60s that were in movies. i really like the beach boys' album still crusin'. wouldn't it be nice was in the big chill, i get aroud was in good morning vietnam, and california girls was in soul man. there are also two songs from the'80s that were in movies. wipeout from disorderlies, and kokomo from cocktail. oh yeah, there is also make it big from troop beverly hills. there are also some new songs still crusin', somewhere in japan, and ialand girl. no,island girl isn't a remke of elton john's song,it's their own song. have fun and party all summer long. ed wilson.

Saved by the oldies. The rest is average.
Well they were exellent back there in the 60 ths. Beach Boys.
Track 8 I get around,Track 9 Wouldn`t it be nice, and Track 10 California Girls are Beach Boys at theire "classical" best.
The rest. Most of these other tracks, are not my cup of tea.
The most positive among those is the oriental inspired Track 2 Somewhere near Japan. It has flair, style, and a very exotic "easten/japanish" flavour over the soundpicture, which make`s it a good listen all through. The rest are a very mixed experience. Most of the other song`s are soundtracks from different movies, and probably fits better in there in movies like Track 1 Still Crusin ( Leathal Weapon 2"), a minor flashback to classical Beach Boys, but miss the mark, to make it great. Track 3 Island Girl, a reagge song, with good rythm, but in style just average. Track 4. In my car, is a weak one, easy forgettable. Track 5 Kokomo, is better, and did good work in the Tom Cruise movie Coctail. Track 6 Wipe out is a small catastrophe to listen to. Track 7 Make it Big ( from Troop Beverly Hills) is up there with the best track`s on the CD. It has a good melody, which are easy and relaxable to listen to. The rest as i have pointed out save the total impression. They are great, they are classical, and it`s
Beach Boys at their height and best.

Still Cruisin' is a must for your collection.
If you are looking for something different than their 60's hits and needing to complete a collection. I bought this album when it first came out. . . . this is a must have. I have loved the Beach Boys sound and harmonies for years. This album took me to places that I could not be at the time. I enjoy listneing to the songs still today. Every group has ups and downs. This is definitely and up for the group. Granted Brian Wilson was not there to add his genius musical mind to the project, it proved that they were "Still Cruisin'".
