first record?
Go for the DVD. This is no doubt a great record, but if you are looking to get into Jeff Beck for the first time go for "Live at Ronnie Scott's" first. Better recorded (2008) it shows Beck at his performing peak (of many many peaks). Unlike his contemporaries who are content to tour on a handful of their old hits, Beck is one of the few rockers who has continued to develop as a musician and who is playing a powerfully as he ever did. Rock kills its young. I don't know the secret, but i am glad he is still around.

There is a God!
Loved Jeff Beck early on but somehow lost track of him over the years. Astonishing. Was lucky enough to see this incredible band up close in '06 and could not believe what was happening. This cd captures the essence, Vinnie Colaiuta is in a different setting that fits him perfectly, what a treat!

The Beckest Beck !
For those of you that don't go back that far. I have been watching and listening to Jeff, since "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago", when I got my first HiFi. Jeff and I do. This has to be his best live work, until I hear the newest one, which I just ordered. If, my friend Jimi were still with us, then Jeff may have some competion, but now he stands alone ! The best guitar player alive and this album proves it. Thank God, he's still playing !

Stellar CD but - Buyer Beware!
His bandmates, all giants in their own pools, are spectacular! I highly recommend this superb recording but caution the buyer as to where you purchase it. No I have not yet seen Jeff Beck perform live, but with this CD at least I feel as if I have heard him play live. I obtained mine through Jeff Beck's website. It took what seemed forever to reach me in the mail, but the price was worth it. Jeff Beck rocks the friggin house down on this disc! Beck is truely one of the last great guitar players living today! Long live Jeff Beck! - Ciao.

better to support the artist but Japanese CD's are better
Japanese CD's are more expensive because. Take your pick. . . they come from Japan!. . . and they're also higher quality, better mastered and better manufactured. So this isn't necessarily a bad deal. It's a different deal.

On the other hand it's always better to support the artist directly by buying direct from them if you can (artists don't see much or any of the proceeds from the record co. ).

If you pay more than what Jeff's selling it for make sure you get the real Japanese one!.
