A simple but catchy song! I figured it was a young kid, so seing Daniel Bedinglfield's picture on the cd cover, I was not sure I had the right title.
Having heard this on Radio Disney but never getting to find out who the artist is (go figure), I hunted down the title online before trekking down to Virgin Megastore to check it at the listening station.
Well, I did.
This song is a simple electro-beat synth production number that just gets it's hook into you and keeps you in tow. The really fun part of the song is when it goes into the verses, which sound like bridges as they string together the chorus parts which sound like the main part of the song. You have to listen to it to see what I mean. I really dig how the guy (about 22 thus not a little kid!) really goes up in pitch and his voice cresendos as he proceeds across each verse-bridge.
The music is somewhat reminicent of Robin S's Show Me Love with it's "Boinky" keyboard yet it's beat is like the beat of Planet Soul, that electro type beat.
My favorite version is the DND radio edit(1st track) which Radio Disney plays even though it seems to end to quickly. The DND Full Length version is somewhat weaker in that the heavy drum in which the radio edit uses is not backing the song here. This version seems almost to "float" opposed to have a grounded beat that pushes it. The Stella Vocal, is more on the House feel. Bedingfield's vocal sounds more deep here but unfortunately, there is only the chorus here.
Overall, a great song.
I Love This Song
This song is fabulous. Just like Gigi Di'Augustino's I'll fly with you, Bla Bla remix, I've been told by several DJs that Daniel Bedingfield sang the vocals and just tweaked his voice electronically. I hear it and I am singing it for hours. It's a good dance song. Can't wait for it to come out in vinyl so I can hear my favorite DJs spin it.
Trouble.
Excellent UK garage anthem.
Well it is July and the US is playing catch up. I actually recieved this song as a gift in January of this year from a friend and was wondering when it would come to America . The song comes in two D'N'D mixes (radio-2:42 and full version -4:44) that are the original garage/two step versions. The vocals sound sped up compared to the house mix and are best for the radio. The songs is very catchy and will be embedded in your brain soon. The Stella Browne vocal mix by mixers Danny Harrison and Julian Jonah is a great house mix. The mix (7:38) is for the house crowd and make his vocals more normal speed for the mix to work and it does. An excellent song that grew on me. I first heard it on the BBC shortwave radio top 20 countdown and on Top Of The Pops where he performed it unplugged in the beginning of 2002.
Excellent Single, Long Live Two Step!
It became one of the best selling singles of the year and has continued to do well into 2002 (returning to #1 after the holiday rush). We had "Gotta Get Thru This" going to the very top of the UK charts during the last weeks of 2001. Now it seems like it is America's turn to discover this gem. As noted by the reviews below, Mr. Bedingfiled's single is receiving a great amount of airplay from the top dance radio station, as well as some medium rotation on the part of Power 96 and Y-100 (the main stations in SFl). While "Gotta Get Through This" is not necessarily the type of music that is successful in the US (I cannot think of any Garage act scoring well in the past two years), this might be the song that opens the door to the two-step sound. The lyrics are contagious, the vocal delivery is just outstanding, and that beat has hit written all over it.
This particular version of the single has three remixes that deserved repeated play. While I still prefer the original version, the Dnd Full Version is what will probably get most of the dancefloor attention. If this one doesn't become a hit outside of Miami (and, of course, Europe) I will be quite shocked. This is one track that has pleasure guaranteed imprinted on its package; trust me on that one :).
THIS IS A GREAT SONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was very nervous that I would return home and not be able to find this song. I just returned from Miami Florida for the Winter Music Conference and one of the songs that most of the top DJ's around the world agreed should be played was Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get Thru This. I was wrong the Internet is a lovely thing. Please make sure you purchase this song.
