This single could've been better
Originally a tender ballad, Metro provided a fabulous club mix that's presented on this disc. This review was originally written by my husband, Daniel Aeschliman, who has given me permission to post it here:

"If You're Not The One" was the third and final single in the US from Daniel Bedingfield's debut album, but the first (and only) one to be commercially issued here. It also contains a medley of snippets of other tracks on the album, which unfortunately tends to focus on the previously issued singles. The biggest problem with this single is that they could have done more with it; a longer remix, live tracks, an exclusive b-side, maybe some of the remixes of "Gotta Get Thru This" or "James Dean (I Wanna Know)" - something to bulk the disc up a little more. Ultimately, the main reason to get this disc is for the remix version of "If You're Not The One" since the medley is not something you're likely to sit down and listen to over and over. A good song and a great remix, but a lousy snippet medley and a waste of a format.

Very Emotional
But If You're Not the ONe is a beautiful song. I didn't lik I Gotta Get Through this very much, to me it was sort of annoying after a while. I even came close to tears ( I said close). It was just very moving and sweet. I can't wait to hear another ballad from Daniel Beddingfield.

Simple, yet still very stirring....
I was pretty suprised at the simple creativity of the chorus and was hooked instantly. I first heard this song on the radio and Daniel was about to sing the chorus. Then the second verse came along and I had a huge smile on my face. I haven't heard a "pop" song filled with such beauty and emotion in a very very. . . very long time. Although I do not own Daniels cd "Gotta Get Thu This" I'm now a fan and will soon go out and purchase the LP. I will however be cautious in my enthusiasm, I'm not going to be swayed until I hear more material from the artist. I've listen to his first single "Gotta Get Thru This" and wasn't too thrilled with the song. It had a basic one liner through the whole track. It begins as a catchy tune then starts to fade with annoyance very quickly. Though, I will give him credit for the beat. Again, this single is definitely a winner and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something different in "pop" music.

Unexpected and Intimate Appeal
The lyrics are universal and fit well with the design of the music that fits. Like the surprise of a new love, this delicate and intimate song reveals the musings of an unexpected find, approached with the grip of intense feelings that beg to be defined and qualified. A very interesting and intimate piece, well balanced for its purpose, evoking both the uncertainty of love, and the joy and excitement that accompany it. A real winner by the very masterful artist!.
