i was lucky to get a limited edition with a DVD disc included. it's a nice album.

The Top Of The Gibb Charts
It still has a strong distinctive vibe that ignites your soul, and just gets you up and groove to the dance floor. There is no doubt about the music of the 70's. That was definitely the case with the music of The Bee Gees. Back in the 70's, they've really shown that they were the talk of the town. They've scored hits that really let fans really shake their groove things. Yet, it is so sad that it has been nearly 6 years since the heartbreaking death of Maurice Gibb that hit music love everywhere hard. But, their catalog also had dissapeared from MP3 websites everywhere for awhile, and the CD sheleves. Now that their catalog had moved a few years ago from Universal to Warner Brothers, fans have had a lot to celebrate, and that comes with the re-release of a single pair of words, Number Ones.

The 2008 re-release of The Bee Gees #1's is a single disc reflection of songs that reached the top of the charts for themselves as well as for others. The collection of songs which was originally released back in 2004, now is back and for the first time available for your MP3 player. The collection features nothing but the biggest hits from Barry, Robin and Maurice which are brilliantly restored, and re-introduced with open arms. The album includes a lot of The Bee Gees biggest pleasures including Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Too Much Heaven, and Jive Talkin'. The newly revised collection also includes a few extra tracks that The Bee Gees wrote for others, which they've recorded as their own, Islands In The Stream for Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton and Immortality for Celine Dion. Although the extra tracks are fine, they really are nothing new for anyone who bought the 2001 out of print Bee Gees hits collection, Their Greatest Hits: The Record. While the collection does fare well, I was a bit surprised that there were just a few #1 songs that were overshadowed from the collection, including Nights On Broadway, and Barry's #1 smash duet with Barbara Streisand on Guilty.

Despite a few songs overlooked, while The Bee gees Number Ones doesn't offer anything too fancy, like remixed songs as was the case with 2007's remastered Greatest, it fares beautifully as a straight-forward and simple reintroduction to the biggest hits from one of the greatest guilty pleasure pop acts of all time. If you haven't yet owned a Bee Gees album, or heard any of their biggest hits before, than Number Ones would definitely be a great album to own for your music library.

Tales From The Brothers Gibb
Nevertheless, it is so sad that when Maurice Gibb had died 5 years ago, the melodies of The Brothers Gibb had stopped too. There is no doubt about the Bee Gees, and the strength of their music. But, that still hasn't stopped their catalog from flowing out great reminders of just how powerful The Bee Gees still are. Their albums had moved a few years ago from Universal to Warner Brothers, and the harmonies just sound even better than ever. But, some of their hits albums have been declared out of print, because of the move. Last year, the groups' classic 1979 Greatest hits album was re-released and delivered more to a new generation, and now another gem has been restored to a new chance of stayin' alive.

The 2008 re-release of Bee Gees Number Ones, is a single disc reflection of Barry, Maurice and Robin's harmonies through their biggest songs from their huge eras from the 60's and 70's. The single disc brings in their biggest songs, restored hand in heart, and brings in a few renditions of songs that they recorded for their own, which they wrote for other acts, which were originally recorded from the out of print, 2001 Their Greatest Hits: The Record. The collection includes all the tracks from Number Ones before including their Saturday Night Fever Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love and Night Fever, as well as Too Much Heaven, I Started A Joke, and the groovy Jive Talkin'. The collection also includes Man In The Middle, a song which Barry and Robin had made, in memory of Maurice's legacy. The extras songs also aren't new, if you don't own the out of print Their Greatest Hits: The Record, renditions of Islands In The Stream (was originally recorded from Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers) and Immortality ( originally recorded by Celine Dion. ) While the extra songs work well, there were a few #1 songs that were overlooked from the original version that could've been added here including Barry's collaboration with the legendary Barbara Streisand on their duet Guilty, Nights On Broadway, and others.

Still, when it comes down to it, Number Ones from The Bee Gees still is a delightful collection that works well as a great buy for anyone who hasn't even yet known what it is like to say your Stayin' Alive. While I still feel terrible Barry and Robin said they won't be recording new songs as The Bee Gees in Maurice's memory, and with a lot of wannabe acts there like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and David Cook from American Idol being more popular, it is easy to really forget just how bold and strong The Bee Gees music will continue to stand the testiments of time. If you haven't bought Number Ones when it orignally came out 4 years ago, you can now get that album a second time.

All The Big Hits!
Although some of the hits didn't actually make #1 in the UK, some may have been #1 in several other countries, prompting it to be thankfully included here. Not to be excluded from the list of other artists that have released compilations containing only #1 songs, the Bee Gees have no problems.

The song "Man in the Middle" is included as a tribute to the late Maurice Gibb. "Number Ones" features 20-tracks, adding cuts such as "More Than a Woman" and "Islands in the Stream," a 1983 No. 1 hit for Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. If you buy this early, you'll get the limited-edition CD/DVD combo which includes rare footage of the Bee Gees performing "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart," "How Deep Is Your Love," "Jive Talkin'," "Massachusetts" and "I Started a Joke" (from the U. K. TV show "An Audience With").

In this version, "More Than A Woman" replaces the USA versions "Lonely Days" and adds the tracks, "Immortality" and "Islands In The Stream", which are the same versions that are on "The Record".

Classic Bee Gees
there tradermark Harmonys and Grooves are still tight all of these years later. yeah it is 30 years ago and that is hard to believe that it has been 30 years since the Bee Gees truly turned the World upside down with the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack, but the Bee Gees were more than disco, they were songwriters and Artists who truly could craft great pop songs and this collection showcases all of there classics which made them a household Band. from the 60's through the 70's the Bee Gees made great songs. they are one of my all time favorite musical acts.
