A CLASSIC!!!!!!!
A classic that is now available again on the Better Than Ezra website with a changed cover and added songs. One of my favorite albums. A must have!!.

Closer Better than Ezra
Reminds of the Band called Everything, CD name SuperNatural they made a song with the lyrics "all I want to do . Every song is fantastically created, but I have a fondess for the "Hooch" song,, something about that sound is just soo much fun. . . is wake up early in the Morning" and sorry I forgot the title to that one.

Pure Pop Genius!
You'll find yourself singing along within a couple listens. Every single track on this album is catchy and fun. With the exception of the entire "Garden" album, BTE can do no wrong; and this comes from a person that generally doesn't like music this "poppy".

Back to Basics, but Matured
I loved every song on Deluxe, despite the underlying darkness (reminiscent of New Orleans, the band's home, itself) and the occasional veer towards over-emotional. Let me make it clear before this starts that I am a BIG fan of BTE. I liked most of Friction, Baby; especially the typical Kevin song Desperately Wanting, and the wistful WOZZ. Then came How Does Your Garden Grow, and I wondered where MY BTE boys had gone. I do understand experimenting with different styles, and I think the result of that experimentation was Closer. Closer is a return to their roots, while bringing in elements they have experimented in without letting them overwhelm either the lyrics or melodies of their great songwriting. This is, for me at least, the best solid album from BTE since their first. Again, I like every song, although like some other fans, my least favorite is Recognize (hard to recognize BTE there). Again we have some dark undertones, but not as dark, or as many, as in Deluxe. Sincerely, Me brings out the both the wistfulness of a break-up and the hope of reconnecting, as does I Do. Misunderstood has a pleasantly catchy melody, and entertaining lyrics ("that day again when you quit work, threw the coffee at the manager jerk. . . "). I could relate to Juarez, having had my own road-trip experiences, and also to A Lifetime, having lost a much-loved friend, suddenly and unexpectedly. Any fan of BTE will enjoy this album, although I've seen some extremely negative reviews from the music press - but BTE has always been under-rated, and always played it their way anyway. For anyone who hasn't listened to music in the last 10 years, this is a great introduction to the band. I don't have the newest one yet, but I just ordered it, and am truly looking forward to it. Now if they would just come within 200 miles of my home on their next tour.

One Of The Best CD's You Can Buy
This is one of their best efforts. Better Than Ezra is a great band, and a group of good people. There are no low points, and there is really something for everyone. I remember buying this cd out of the blue for no reason and was blown away. If I could get it ten starts I would. Highest Points are "Get You In" and "Misunderstood" Get it folks it is a world class album.
