ROQ Solid. "Purge" is a masterpiece. More like "Binge"! Beth Torbert is a genius, I'm a big fan of her work. Still consistent after all this time and continues to serve her audience well with no problems, I love you Beth!. This album is more Pop/Rock and barley any metal this time around, Atleast I don't hear any. No complaints here. Once again I'm playing a Bif Naked Album All-the-way-thorugh and it's smooth sailing without pushing any buttons. "Dawn" "Regular Guy" "Stolen Sidewalk" & "Story Of My Life" are the hottest on the album IMO. "Regular Guy" has a poppy-upbeat-power-pop rhythm and sounds like a "No Doubt" song, Who wouldn't love it for that reason? She almost sounds completely identical to Gwen Stefani on this track. "I Love Myself Today" is a shouty anthem-styled-song that should not be taken seriously, It's a crazy song about loving yourself for a day and being carefree- "I Love Myself Today" would not sound out of place in a TV ad for Bally Total Fitness. "Stolen Sidewalk" is a gloomy acoustic ballad with a vulnerable sound to it, Beth sounds tender and kind of fragile in this song. She's definatley good at showing a great range of emotion. "Tango Shoes" is another fun upbeat song that catches ones attention and it's fun to bop to, this song drives me crazy everytime I hear it- I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I'm into EVERY song on the album but I thought it best to only get into the ones that stickout to me, Otherwise i'd probably be here all day. In-short the album is HOT. You can always count on Bif Naked to put together a hot album. Get it!.
Purge
I don't know why it was titled "Purge" but I would like to say that a "purge" is needed to get rid of those untalented but famous! pop singers. This CD is not an exemption to the rule, great music and vocals.
It's hard to put this album in a category...that's a good thing. It's original.
Collectively, Bif Naked's sound has amazing similarities to No Doubt's Gwen Stefani as well as similar rock artists such as Good Charlotte. Bif Nake's Purge does not seem to stick to any genre, neither do any of her other works. This album certainly explores the genres of alternative, pop, punk, as well as dance. Purge also has a sound consistent to Bif Naked's earlier title I Bificus. Tracks like "Tango Shoes" have a very catchy sound, similar to something No Doubt or Good Charlotte would put out. Later into the album, the genre changes however to dance and alternative. Purge probably a stands as one of Bif Naked's strongest titles to date. It's all about originality and versitility, which she does fairly well.
On Purge
Favorite track "I Love Myself Today", now that's undeniable rock! This album is also hard to find a record stores for some reason which is why I had to go online for it. Personaly I think that Superbeautifulmonster is her best album but this album shows her transformation from the earlier stuff to now. .
Bif Naked only gets better!
I think some of her songs kinda have to grow on some, but for the most part you can find alot to enjoy in each of her songs. I bought this album first & was not disappointed. She's a great singer with a good range and alot of spunk! The lyrics are good, many will find much to relate to in her words, and the music is awesome. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys female rock/alternative/punk rockers! .
