BOSTON
THE DISK WAS JUST LIKE SELLER SAID IT WOULD BE. THIS WAS A GOOD PURCHASE. VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PURCHASE.

Should I also buy the 2009 remastered version of this?
You get all of their hits from the first album and some additonal songs that I wasn't real familiar with but since I didn't own all of their albums on vinyl to begin with, and I can't afford to go out and buy each individual CD now, this seemed like the most economical way to get the most bang for my buck without breaking the bank. I purchased this 1997 version back in November of 2008 and found it to be well worth the $8 I spent in terms of the audio quality and song selection.

It's my understanding that Tom Scholz and Boston have now released a remastered version of their 1997 Greatest Hits. My question is - should I now go out and pick up the new and improved version as well? Is it really that much better than the 1997 version? If so, what's different about it and how much better does it/could it sound anyway?

Seems to me that Tom Scholz and Boston ought to replace the old 1997 version with the new 2009 remastered version for those that purchased the old version within the last 6 months and weren't smart enough to know they were in the process of coming out with a new and improved remastered version of the same album and bought the old 1997 version instead.

Whaddaya think Tom? Are you out there?

Oh well - you live and learn, I guess.

Misleading
Why, then, is a CD titled "Greatest Hits" missing one of their greatest hits ("We're Ready")? The answer: greed. Boston had some great albums and great songs, although they did not have many charting hits. The music on the CD is quite good overall, but the omission of a Billboard top 10 hit is insulting to buyers. And the music industry wonders why CD sales have been falling. Your best bet is to buy your favorite songs individually. Don't support compilations like this.

Solid
, reviewers are always complaining that they left out this or that song, blah blah blah. I have noticed that every time a band has a greatest hits, essential collection, etc. It's Boston, geez. If you want Hitch a Ride, classic rock radio still plays it every other hour. As a matter of fact, Boston is the band that created the Classic Rock format even before there was such a thing. Having some new songs on here is actually a welcome addition to a Greatest Hits collection. Stop complaining!.

Slick STudio sound
The instrumental tracks are elaborate and probably difficult to reproduce live. Boston has a heavily produced sound which is not a negative. The tracks hold up after all these years and the compilation has many of their famous songs, although not all are their best. I prefer the album 'Boston. ' .
