One of Buffett's Best It has many of his best and smoothest easy listening ballads, some of which are heard at many of his concerts, such as "A Pirate Looks at Forty", "Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season", "Tin Cup Chalice", and the lesser known "Migration". This is one of Buffett's best "all around" albums. .
The Nautical Theme Kicks In Here
The songs "A Pirate Looks At Forty", "Trying To Reason With Hurricane Season". On A-1-A, Jimmy Buffett begins his exploration of the seafaring theme that would become his stock in trade. and "Nautical Wheelers" indicate that he'd recently relocated from Nashville to Florida, and the breezy atmosphere of his adopted state pervades this entire CD. This is an album you should pick up if you can find it.
LIttle too country for me
A definite must for those that have built a Buffett collection. This is a good Buffett album but in my humble opinion it is a little too country. . . good one to round-out his style. But for a new Buffett fan I suggest Live in Anguilla. this one is just not diverse enough unless you can use the rest of your collection to show soup-to-nuts Buffett.
Simply Classic
Tracks 1-8 are timeless & just great. This album is one of Buffett's classics. Dallas, Migration, Door Number 3 & Life is a tire swing are little talked about but great songs & personal favorites. The last 3 tracks are more mellow & drag on just a little bit, but even out the album. A must have for any Buffett fan or even any person who appreciates great music!!.
If You Like The Cover You'll Love The Album
"A Pirate Looks At Forty", "Presents To Send You", "Nautical Wheelers" and "Migration" are my favorites but everything on here is outstanding. Simply put this is Buffett's best album. I know people have to change over the years but like other reviewers have said Buffett's sound diverged from my tastes after Changes In Latitude Changes In Attitude.
A1A is a record for beer, cookouts, pickup trucks, having a good time.
