GOOD
i bought their first cd long time ago without knowing who they were,
i bought it just because it looked like a grunge band and it looked cool,
and it was sold as one of the '3cds for $1' thing at used record store. hey,Im a much too late candlebox fan from japan.
when i first heard it i didn't like it much, i thought they were just Pear jam ripp-off.
but years later I listened to it again and realized that i was wrong.
now it's one of my favorite albums of all time and i think Candlebox is one of the best bands from '90s.
So i went to the store and bought Lucy, and I was dissapointed.
I still don't like it much,it's just dull and boring.
so it took some time for me to step forward to get this Candlebox's third cd,(and it was very hard to find this cd at stores in Japan)
So I ordered it recently here at amazon, hoping it's better than Lucy.
and the cd's here and, as many reviews i had read here, they're back with lot of energy and emotions, and disc is full of good songs.
they're not as hard-edgy as before, but their sound is more mature and they're not sounding like pearl jam anymore!
i think the best songs from this album are
It's Alright
10,000 Horses
Sometimes
Blinders
and Happy Pills.
other songs are good too.
it's great to know that Candlebox and STP are back this year!
I can't wait to hear the new album.
.
the best cd in the last decade
yes. . it is the number one cd, in my opinion, for the past 10 years or more. the complete mastery of every note, riff, and chord will leave you begging for more. candlebox is my favorite band. . . and this cd is why. no, there are no monster hits on this cd, but it doesn't need that.
Truly Under-rated
Critics accused the band of deliberately recording a safe album because that was what would sell as grunge died. This album was already written-off by critics and most of the public shortly after it came out.
But I think the band really grew and spread their wings. Maybe it was the production, but I still really love this album and wish it wasn't so under-rated.
Awesome Then and 8 Years Later
If you loved the first C'box CD, then you will enjoy this one. If you are considering this album feel reassured that your money will go to great music. There is considerable debate as to which is better. The first is more raw and powerful. This one is more diverse and professional. Martin's vocals don't get any better than this and probably won't with time. "A Stone's Throw Away" is one of the best blues rock songs ever recorded. The vocals and guitar work are unbelievable. While there are numerous top-notch songs like Happy Pills and 10,000 Horses, a sure fire hit was "Sometimes". It was idiosy not to have released this one. One day someone will cover it and make a mint. C'box recently re-formed. I hope they are able to bring to life some of these gems with their new tour. Buy the album and see them in concert. They are very good. .
Good CD
The funny thing though, is Kevin Martin's new band the Hiwatts, might be even better. No, not as good as the first one and maybe not as good as even 2nd, but still good stuff. Certainly the Possibility Cd is the equal to better than Candlebox's first CD. I can't believe the Hiwatts are not huge.
