Customer Reviews
Psh, I've heard MUCH better
Probably one of my least favs from Cannibal Corpse. It's true. I love their music sooooo much but this album is just way too repetitive and dull. I can't believe I actually fell asleep to a Cannibal Corpse album. But I did!

New fans of Cannibal Corpse I reccommend something a little newer such as Kill or Gore Obssessed.

Get your daily dose of vitamin CC!
I thank the fans who support this band and all the positive reviews here on Amazon. Thank you Alex, Pat, Jack, Paul, and George for making yet again another Awesome Death Metal masterpiece. To say the least CC are very skilled musicians. Playing there songs (guitar) are very difficult. This is why it angers me to hear people say wrong things about CC. The song writers in the group, which are mostly Alex, Pat, Jack, and Paul ( especially Alex. . . and especially Pat!) have the ability to write extremely catchy riffs as well as technically challenging parts. They could easily write more mainstream material, tone down the violence, have a vocalist who sings melody and live like fat cats with lotsa dosh. However this is the very Reason that CC is my FAVORTIE band. I love all types of music, however their integrity and dedication have made me a proud owner of all their albums. And they do deserve to be multi-platinum artist despite the underground aspect of death metal. Just my opinions, now onto the Album. This was not my First CC record (Vile) however this album marks a very important ingredient that was not present in previous CC albums. PAT OBRIEN! (I'm not worthy!)Previously in Nevermore. WOW,. . . this dude is simply amazing. I (and im curious to know what other CC fans think) have noticed that on this album that the overall tone is crunchier sharper and more aggresive than previous albums. In addition the riffing. . . is. . . just. . . SICK! The speed picking is flawless, triplets and palm muted down picking galore at speeds that some people alternate pick. I'm not gonna pick out songs that are highlights because CC is not that kind of band to me. I put in their CD's and I become immersed in their STYLE (even though some songs will always be catchier than others). Another (BIG) reason I'm reviewing this album first is because of OBRIEN's Masterpiece instrumental "From Skin to Liquid". I'm speechless! It is my favorite CC song and definently in my top 10 songs of all time. I'm partial to instrumentals, no matter who is singing! Everytime I hear this song I conjure different ideas and emotions due to the fact that there are no lyrics to influence my imagination. George "CorpseGrinder" Fisher is just BRUTAL as always with trademark aggresion and articulation. On some songs I'll try to sing along but get tongue tied becuase of the sheer speed at which he sings the lyrics. I used to be turned off by the vocals,. . . and it is a big reason why many a people do not like this band. They will say listen to Cradle of Filth or some other death metal band that doesnt sing as brutal. NO SIR! Other Death metal bands dont have the RiffinG, Stlye, and Creativity that CC has. I read an interview with CorpseGrinder and the interviewer asks if he is sick due to the sound of his voice. He says no, the reason his voice sounds rough is becuase every night on stage he is battering his vocal chords to Hell! That sold me on the vocals. As far as the lyrics are concerned, after Barnes left and the rest of the band members took up lyrical duties, I've had to pull out a dictionary on just about every song. Brutal but intelligent. Finally, there is Alex Webster who is without a doubt my favorite Bass player EVER! Watching him on the Wretched Spawn video doing Appregios and slap and tap is the kind of stuff that makes me want to play bass. And i love when he does bass solos in the songs(wish there were more). He is also the bands key song writer, as he creates the title tracks on most albums. Which really suprises me becuase the guitar is Vital in creating the Death Metal sound. It shows how musically wise he is, being able to write stuff on bass as well as guitar. A lot of things I mentioned should not persuade you to buy an album. I'm in to skilled and technical playing, however Im not a big fan of Shred like Steve Vai , Satch, or Malmsteen. You either like it or not,. . . Doens't matter how fast are good the person can play. However,. . . I feel that CC is: under-rated and under-exposed and most importantly deserve much more respect than they've been given. So i felt it was important to point out these aspects to people. Thanks again to Cannibal Corpse and to the fans supporting them and the positive reviews. I'd give this way more than five stars, in fact I give it all the stars to fill up all reviews with five stars. Thanks AGAIN!
Also check out: Pantera(RIP Dime) MEGADETH, Anthrax, Slayer, Sepultura, Exodus, Testament, Cynic, Alarum, Rebel Meets Rebel, WES MONTGOMERY, Paco De Lucia, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, Van Halen, Mastadon, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath . . . others i can't think of right now cuz this review is already too damn long,. . . oh yeah and my music which will hopefully be out in the future if i don't kill myself first!.

Worth every penny
The production couldn't be clearer (as far as death metal goes anyway) and the songs couldn't have been any more brutal. "Gallery of Suicide" by Cannibal Corpse, I believe, is their finest work so far. If you do not like violent lyrical topics, distorted guitars, and blast beats on the drums, then I don't think you would ever buy a CD by a band called Cannibal Corpse, anyway, so I don't really understand the people who give this bad reviews for being what it is. It's like, if I am a fan of music like Celine Dion and Jewel and Michael Bolton, I would never pick up a copy of a CD called "Gallery of Suicide" or anything by a band with as much gall as to call themselves Cannibal Corpse. Oh well. . .
Besides the concert staples like "I Will Kill You" and the title track, I like "Sentenced to Burn" and "Unite the Dead" as stand out tracks. The whole CD is solid and enjoyable, though, especially if someone new to Cannibal Corpse just happens to be in the truck when I pop it in. Not everyone likes it, but it sure does get a reaction every time. Sometimes I just want to listen to a metal band that is still thought of as abrasive. Remeber when Metallica was that way?.
