Mariah Carey Glitter
Some of the best songs on Glitter include "Loverboy" and "Never Too Far". Mariah Carey is an amazing singer and even sometimes amazing singers can put out CD's that just arent all that great. Not MC's best CD but it includes a few powerful ballads that are worth checking out.

Mariah's Best Album
It's Mariah's most "poppy" album with alot of dance tracks. Alot of people criticize the movie, thus they criticize the soundtrack unknowingly. They're all brilliant pretty much. Every song is great, minus Twister. . don't really like that one. Probably the most depressing song Mariah has recorded. Other than that. .

1. Loverboy (Remix). . really fun and interesting. I hated that song for years until I sat down and really listened to it. Then it clicked and now it's an adorable, quirky love song that reminds me of Fergie's Clumsy a bit. I love Mariah's "lazyish" vocals on the track as well.

2. Lead The Way. . easily one of Mariah's most underrated songs. A beautiful ballad with great meaningful lyrics and a 22-second note held towards the end that will blow your socks off.

3. If We. . . it sounds very much like a 2001/2002 Irv Gotti production. Like J-Lo's stuff from back then and Ashanti. Very nostalgic and accurate of the music at that time. May be the fact that Ja Rule is on the track as well.

4. I Didn't Mean To Turn You On. . . the most Mariah has dabbled in REAL dance music in her career. I love the opening with the side-swinging speaker claps. It sounds kinda detached and shallow in a night club kinda way, but it's made to be like that. . and thats why I love it. Definitely one of the best tracks on the album.

5. Don't Stop (4 Jamaica). . . this song is SO fun. It has a very southern/cajun vibe to it. But with a rapper and Mariah's angelic vocals sang in a innocent, yet enticing fashion. I love this.

6. All My Life. . . this IS my favorite song on the album. In my opinion, it is the most blatantly sexy song Mariah has done in her career. I love the ad-libs throughout the song. . Mariah talking, Mariah laughing (esp that one), random voices in the background. And I loooooove love love the bridge. "All my life, every night, all my life, all my life" where the harmonizing all comes together and she hums the tune of the song herself. Brilliant!

7. Reflections. . I love this song. I love towards the middle where she keeps repeating the same question in various ways. "Did you really care, care at all for me? Cause I really need to know that you cared, just a tiny little bit for me. I need to understand, why you left me out in the cold. . " etc. Very emotional and heart-wrenching. Beautiful ballad, albeit a wee sad.

8. Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. . the third real dance song so far on the album (Loverboy, If We, and Don't Stop are all upbeat, but not necessarily dance) Really fun, surprisingly I really like the rappers on this track. Sometimes they can take away from the song. (like they do in Loverboy remix, in my opinion) But I really like them here. I love the way the beat changes during the chorus to a more steady drum beat. And I love the provocative whispering parts Mariah does towards the end "Hey listen up to your local DJ, you better hear what he's got to say, there's not a problem that I can't fix, cause I can do it in the mix" etc.

9. Want You. . . very surprising track here. Kinda sounds like the stuff being produced today. Very electronic and experimental. Not necessarily a favorite (haven't given it many listens really) but its a good song that you will most likely enjoy. I'll probably enjoy it too once I give it a few spins! :)

10. Never Too Far. . the second single of the album (bet you didn't know that!) that bombed but a great ballad. I believe she reached her vocal peak here and the end note is absolutely stunning when she keeps taking it higher and higher. Amazingness!

11. Twister. . . the one song I don't like. Some may like it, but it's just too depressing for me.

12. Loverboy. . . the original mix, very cute as is the remix. If you don't like the released version of Loverboy you might like this one. I prefer the remix in a way, but this one is nice too cause theres no rappers. Love it!.

Not as Crappy as the movie!
I thought the ballads were really awesome. I actually liked this cd when it came out! Yea, I know people laughed at me, but I thought most of the songs were decent and I remember loverboy being played all over mtv and the radio. Never tommorow brings(heck i dont remember the title?) was very powerful and moving. I also liked the fact that there were a few 80's inspired tracks on this album. Mariah doesnt really step outside of the old crooner r and b/T-pain/biggie sound. So I thought it was intersting. Most of this album is enjoyable, while the movie just down right blows balls. I just think people were alittle tired of hearing Mariah Carey(hey it happens, i havent listened to this really in at least 5 years!). Other then that, if your young , like pop, and don't remember when this came out, then you'd def. like this album. (I cant imagine anybody being any younger then me,haha!). .

It's a soundtrack, not an "album"
Not your typical Mariah Carey, but then, one thing people seem to forget is: it's not an "album" proper, rather, a SOUNDTRACK to the movie. All in all, this is not a bad CD. Yes, every song was by Mariah (w/ guest artists thrown in), but it was still a soundtrack released to go along w/ the Glitter movie. So I find it rather funny when critics and people slammed the CD and called it a flop. Soundtracks generally aren't #1 blockbuster records, so it's not surprising that this one wasn't, either. But it's still a good CD and a must-have for any fan of Mariah's. . . no matter whether you liked the movie Glitter or not.
