TOO MUCH TIME ON THEIR HANDS PLEASE READ. . . .
FIRST OFF. . . . TOO ALL THE HATERS THAT FIND THEMSELVES WRITING A REVIEW ON THIS BOARD. I HAVE TO ASK. . . . WHY ARE YOU EVEN WASTING YOUR TIME? IF THERE IS AN ARTIST THAT I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF I DON'T EVEN WASTE MY TIME TO WRITE A REVIEW. FURTHERMORE, MANY OF YOU IDIOTS ARE VERY MISINFORMED.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SOME OF YOU ARE COMPARING HER TO JLO. THEY ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ARTISTS. MARIAH'S FIRST CAREER IS HER MUSIC & JLO'S FIRST CAREER IS ACTING. THERE IS NO COMPARISON -JUST STOP THE NONSENSE.
IT IS ALSO SO IGNORANT WHEN PEOPLE SAY MC IS CRAZY. JUST BECAUSE SHE IS A CELEBRITY DOESN'T MEAN SHE IS EXEMPT FROM FACING THE SAME OBSTACLES IN LIFE THAT THE REST OF US DO. SHE WENT THROUGH A HARD TIME AND MADE IT THROUGH. THERE COMES A TIME IN EVERYONE'S LIFE WHEN WE HAVE TO FACE HURDLES, IT'S HOW WE GET OURSELVES THROUGH THEM THAT IS IMPORTANT. IT MAKES US HUMAN AND HUMBLES US. MARIAH SURVIVED IT LIKE A CHAMP.
& YES, MARIAH IS THE BIGGEST SELLING FEMALE ARTIST. NO OTHER ARTIST (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MAYBE THE BEATLES & ELVIS) HAS EVER SOLD 150 MILLION ALBUMS. MADONNA HAS SOLD APPROXIMATELY 100 MILLION, HOWEVER THAT IS OVER A 25 YEAR SPAN. WHEREAS, MARIAH SURPASSED THIS NUMBER BY SEVERAL MILLION IN ONLY A 10-15 YR. SPAN. IT'S SIMPLE MATH.
& FOR THOSE FOLKS THAT ARE CRITICIZING HER FOR RE-RELEASING THE PLATINUM EDITION - WHY DO YOU EVEN CARE? OBVIOUSLY, YOU ARE NOT TRUE MC FANS. THE SOLE PURPOSE OF HER RE-RELEASING THE ALBUM WAS FOR HER HARD-CORE FANS LIKE MYSELF. I WOULDN'T CARE IF SHE RE-RELEASED IT 5X'S. IT NOT ONLY INCLUDES 4 ADDITIONAL TRACKS THAT ARE OFF THE HOOK, BUT IT ALSO INCLUDES A DVD. & TO THE REVIEWER THAT SAID SHE RE-RELEASED IT 3X'S YOU ARE SO MISTAKEN. SHE DID RELEASE ANOTHER FORMATTED COPY OF THE CD, BUT IT WAS RELEASED THE SAME DAY AS THE ORIGINAL. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE PACKAGING (ONE INCLUDING A FULL SIZED POSTER) & IT IS UP TO THE CONSUMER TO CHOOSE WHICH ONE TO PURCHASE. & AGAIN, WHY DO YOU IDIOTS EVEN CARE. OH, & BUY THE WAY MC IS NOT THE ONLY ARTIST WHO HAS RE-RELEASED THEIR ALBUM (LET'S SEE JLO, USHER, JESSICA S. , ALICIA KEYS. . . . & THE LIST GOES ON). I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IT IS THE RECORD COMPANIES THAT HAVE THE FINAL SAY AS TO WHAT TRACKS WILL BE INCLUDED THE ALBUMS. IF THE ALBUM SELLS WELL THEN THE MARKETING SEGMENT OF THE COMPANY KICKS IN GEAR AND THE LABEL DECIDES TO RE-RELEASE THE ALBUMS WITH ADDITIONAL TRACKS, ETC.
GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE DISSING ON MC.
THE ADDITIONAL TRACKS ON THE PLATINUM EDITION ARE OFF THE HOOK & WELL WORTH THE $. ALSO, I PURCHASED THE PLATINUM AT WALMART FOR ONLY 9 BUCKS. THE ADDITIONS ARE GREAT R&B TRACKS WITH MESMERIZING BEATS, GREAT REMIXES, & THE OH SO BEAUTIFUL "DON'T FORGET ABOUT US".
SO TO THE HATERS - SCREW YUS ALL. . . . . ACTUALLY, IT'S QUITE COMICAL READING YOUR REVIEWS, BECAUSE THEY ARE SO IGNORANT, INACCURATE, AND MEANINGLESS.

I bought it at Virgin Mega Store on April 12, 2006 but I had the original back in 2005. The Emancipation Of Mimi was already good but Mariah upgraded.

MARIAH-- TRULY FLIES LIKE A BIRD IN THIS UNFORGETTABLE ALBUM
This is truly one of the best albums in all of musical history with it's unique sense of style, sweet melodies, unforgetable lyrics, and upbeat rhythms. The name of this album pretty much states the overall status of this widely-acclaimed collection. "The Emancipation of Mimi" truly signifies music of the already progressing millennium. Mariah has lived up to "artist of the decade" in the 90s and clearly displays now.

This is honestly her greatest yet. It is a must-have and deserves re-released as a diamond album like "Music Box" and "Daydream. ".

She will Emencipate BIGger and HIGHer.., 4eva

This album is the best RnB album to date. . the songs are worth to listen, I've no idea what elase to say, but I highly recommended you to buy this album RIGHT NOW! An album with singles 'We Belong Together' that peaked @ #1 @ UsBillboard Hot 100 for 14 weekS. . . , amazing. . , and another #1 single 'Don't Forget About Us'. . , and the rest of the songs are also super great!!
