Yesterday Once More
These are all classic songs remastered perfectly. Many thanks to Richard for doing this. If you own SACD equipment this CD belongs in your collection. Really shows how the lower bit rate/PCM did not give the consumer the entire picture. Karen was clearly a fantastic musician and these arrangements support her talents beautifully. Lets hope that Richard will be able to give us more of the catalog on SACD with the material that had to be cut due to time constraints.

Stereo SACD review
I'm afraid that I haven't gotten the whole surround sound thing, so this review is of the Stereo DSD SACD layer of this disc. I am a self-confessed stereophile.

Love them or hate them, this would have to be without question one of the best Stereo SACDs to demonstrate the massive difference between a standard CD and a Stereo SACD. The depth and clarity of sound is nothing short of breathtaking. Reviewers are always citing Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' as one of the best, but if you forget genres for a second and just listen to this, you will never go back to a standard CD again.

I grew up with the Carpenters, and I happen to believe that Karen Carpenter had one of the most beautiful singing voices of the century. There, I've said it. No embarrassment here. Even if you don't agree, do yourself a favour and listen to this disc - it is a life-changing experience in music reproduction. Congratulations to Richard Carpenter and the other technicians involved in the SACD remastering. It is a masterpiece.

Five stars for sound quality alone.

Unmistakable sound, impeccable mixing.... simply fantastic!
There's also probably NOT a mix that I haven't heard and had an issue at one point of Richard's continuous "dabbling" in the mixes of these classic tunes. Being a fan of the Carpenters for over 30 years, there's really not a lot that I could write that has not been written before by others and myself.

However, I must report to you - any Carpenters fan or anyone interested in finding out more about them - that THIS is the album to buy, ESPECIALLY if you are able to take advance of the SACD benefits.

Simply fantastic, words cannot explain the emotions that came back to me in full force when listening to this CD in surround, mixed the way that is. A new version of "Superstar" and also "It's Going To Take Some Time" (I believe!) as well as "tweaks" all through the mixes will make you think that Karen is alive & well & standing in the room with you.

Unbelieveable quality, and a refreshing sound that immediately unleashes the timelessness of these songs and the beauty of Karen's voice.

A MUST for any real fan.

Golden CD of Carpenters
It is a level of all-songs superiors. This CD is very good. The voice of Karen has a transparent feeling beautifully, and composition of Richard and an arrangement are refined and, moreover, have an intelligence. Such wonderful Duo will not appear again. .

You Never Heard The Carpenters Before This
Karen Carpenter has always had pitch-perfect vocals and the arrangements were carefully recorded. Twenty-one songs by the Carpenters on one SACD disc is a wonder to behold. However, in SACD format, you can literally hear minor things you never could before - background studio noises, breathing, minor sounds that make you feel as if you are IN the studio. Enough has been said about this remarkable set of songs and how they continue to effect generation after generation with their playfulness and emotional range. This is about as good as albums get for song material and the SACD format just about makes it beyond perfect.
