Great for Nick Cave fan's and novices alike. "Let Love In" is necessary to any Nick Cave fan's collection, and since it is an even sampling of his sound it is a great starter album for anyone who is unfamiliar with the body of Nick Cave's work and looking to explore it. This is a great album from beginning to end; every song on this album is strong. The mood and melodies of "Let Love In" is an excellent marriage between the harder darker sounds of albums like "From Her to Eternity" & "Murder Ballads" and the poetic and melodic themes found in "Boatman's Call" or "As I Sat Sadly by Her Side. " .
Five Stars For A Great Release
I have followed him (not physically! Okay, only once) since The Birthday Party. I find it difficult to pick a favorite of Nick Cave's work, but this is close. I worked for a subsidiary of his label when "The Good Son" was released, and a lot of Birthday Party fans didn't care for it, even though the ingrates got an advance release copy. But Nick Cave has continued to move on with each CD, and if fans of "Junkyard" aren't satisfied, I would have to say they are only hurting themselves. Mr. Cave's songwriting ability is nothing short of genius; he's in my Top 5 list of underappreciated songwriters, along with Andy Prieboy. "I Let Love In" not only showcases his abilities, it does so in a way that keeps the listener going and guessing from song to song. Of course the opening track grabs right away, but segues into "Nobody's Baby Now" in a way that I thought was a little shaky at first, but appreciate now. This CD was so good, so much the work of a truly gifted artist, that when his publicist wanted to me to do an interview (yes, label to journalist, it could have ruined me but I quit) I turned the chance down. That is how good he is- he scares me. Another reviwer had a negative reaction to "Janglin' Jack" and it wasn't my favorite, either, but I grew to appreciate it. There's a reason it's called "Janglin"- the music and the lyrics are meant to convey "Janglin". I don't normally try to pick favorites with Nick Cave songs, but I must say, "Loverman" is brilliant and haunting. Or brilliantly haunting, whatever. If you like Nick Cave and don't own it, buy it. If you appreciate talented songwriting, buy it. And if you're an old Birthday Party fan. . . give it a shot. .
Let Love In
In fact, I would have to say that it is their best record so far. Let Love In was Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds 1994 and it sure is a dandy of a release. There are so many amazing tracks that I astounded by the quality. It starts out with the haunting track "Do you love me?". After this we get the solemn and sad track "Nodbody's Baby Now". Loverman follows with it is twisted lyrics and frantic singing. Jangling Jack is a track that I did not like at first. However, it is a track that grows on you and not being a favorite but I still enjoy it. As you can easily see from just these first tracks this is truly a gem. Nick Cave is such a good lyricist and he sings about love it does not trite but sincere. Red Right Hand tells the story of a demented man with a red right hand. Let Love In tells about the darker side of love. The thirsty dog is a song about remorse and I must up until I was not so wild about it. However, tonight I finally understand the lyrics. Ain't gonna rain anymore is a heart wrenching song about lost love. Lay me low is such a hillarious and twisted song about about a fictious funeral and it really spins out of control. Then this amazing record's last track is Do you Love me? (Part 2). This is one of the best records that I have ever listened to and I would recommend it to anyone that likes quality music with witty, inteligent and insight full lyrics!

Start w/ this Nick Cave record and then explore the rest
It feels like a bridge between the work he did in the 80's and the work he's doing currently. This record is amazing. Every song is good. Some songs are brilliant. .
Let Nick In
But I must warn you. This album is just amazing. If you are a little down, you girlfriend leave you, or the the day is too rainy, well, maybe you don't need to list this particular album.
But, in the other hand, if the sun is shinning, well enjoy. Nick Cave use the words (and his voice) to took you into the deep of human soul, and is a very ugly place. Specially "Do you love. Part 2", when he describe a taxi-boy, is so cruel, and at the same time so human. But is not only the lyrics. The musicians are truly artists, like Blixa (guitar) and Mike Harvey. Loverman and Red Right Hand are an exemple of that. It is one of the Cave's greatest album .
