Really, really, good cd!
This one is great just like the others. Started to get all her albums. Keep it comming to me, Kasey. I can't stop this, listening I mean.

My favorite Kasey Chambers cd
I automatically fell in love with her distinct (which are often nasally) vocals. I am not what you would consider a fan of country music but a few years ago I had discovered Kasey Chambers on a two song sampler cd. Of all her cds, THE CAPTAIN is my personal favorite. I can listen to the cd without cringing like her most recent two albums to date. The one flaw with Kasey is her vocals. They sometimes become annoying but not enough to put me off of her music. I like how her music is anything but like passes off for country music nowadays. Her music is not polished like Carrie Underwood or Faith Hill. Her music is great road music to listen to especially songs like "The Captain" and "You Got the Car". Her lyrics often move me to tears like "The Captain". I find her lyrics very relatable. The only song I honestly do not care for is "Last Hard Bible". I just did not particularly like the melodies to the song, much less the lyrics. I liked how Kasey ended the cd with the goofy track "We're All Gonna Die Someday" which some of the melodies comes from the theme song to THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES tv show. All in all THE CAPTAIN is a solid country album.

Bring The Flower to the Captain...
Heard "Captain" on 88. This album brings to heart what a singer/song writer is in the emergence of who they are. 5 FM WXPN Philadelphia, and I was hooked. The Flower is a touching song for any mood! If you are a fan of female singer/songwriters, this is a good one to get. There are a few tunes that leave you wanting more, "You Drive the Car", but in all the talent is there!!! .

Pretty Good
It is good in the sense that you really like it the first time you hear it, but your relationship with the album doesn't evolve from there. Based on other people's reviews, I was expecting something a bit more twangy, and a little less adult contemporary. I like to react well to an album, and then have it grow on me, and have songs move in and out of my "favorite song on the album" spot. This album is good, and is what it is, and doesn't go much deeper.

A Hidden Surprise
When the concert was over, I bought all three of her CD's. I saw Casey Chambers at an outdoor concert this summer and had never heard of her. In a world where there are few musical surprises, this is a winner. Australia thinks she's great. . . Platinum level. I think they're right!.
