Best Blues Singer since Janis Joplin
The music is easily playable and easy to listen to. This album is simple words and music. You can sing along to it. But, it has an edge to it. You can hear her pain in some of the songs. Has some great honky tonk tunes too.

Barricades and Brickwalls
The gritty and introspective lyrics grab you, as well as the unique vocal style that is unrivaled by any "new" artist. This album is strong songwriting and vocals from start to finish. Kasey Chambers is definitely outside the box of being labeled as any particular genre of music and that is to her credit. From folk to country to bluegrass to in-your-face rock, this album is eclectic and electric.

Fantastic
I'll keep this short and sweet. . if you love KC like I do and you loved her first CD, then I hope I don't need to say this twice. . . BUY THIS CD!!! It is awesome! Thank you for your time. ^_^.

What is country when it's combined with angst girl-rock?
After one listen to Barricades and Brickwalls - I found it, and was changed. I have to say, although admiring the Dead Ringer Band from way back, I wasn't always a fan or Kasey Chamber's sugar and hot pepper vocals, though several sweet tunes can be found on her debut "The Captain" ("The Flower", "The Captain"), what was missing was some gutteral spice from this gal. The instrumentation is moody and pointed, the timing is perfect. Country for the young is suddenly hip. Classics are the suprising abrupt twists that can be found on many of the songs - telling a guy he can go to Hell or stick it up them always attracts a certain kind of listener who remains dedicated. Favourites include, "A Little Bit Lonesome", the stirring "Nullabor Song" and the current Australian release, "On a Bad Day". The hidden track, "Ignorance" also adds a dramatic finale to what is a great release. Perhaps much focused on the girls perspective of a breakup. . . but hey! If there's an audience. . . . Just another reason for Nashville to prick up their ears.

Kasey is getting even better!
I just loved "The Captain" and i think "Barricades & Brick Walls" is even better. I have to admit i'm a big fan of Kasey's right from the early days with "the dead ringer band"i have loved her singing and what a great surprise it was to find out she was also a great song writer. In my books it is a true classic!.
