Great Album, but missing songs
Great Album, but they eliminated 2 songs that were on the vinyl album, one of which, (She's always seventeen) is one of my favorites.

Came on time nicely, but doesn't play very well
We had it on tape and album forever, but was excited to get it on CD. I adore Harry Chapin and the Live album is my favorite. Sadly, though it came on time very nicely, the CD doesn't work very well. It gets stuck between every song and I have to fast forward at the end of each song, to get to the next, which is annoying, and I miss the beginning of each subsequent song. I've never had a problem with used CDs on Amazon, so figure this is just bad luck. But it's such a wonderful CD and I'm sad it doesn't play well. .

Original vinyl recording has 2 additional songs
Went to see him at Michigan State University, and loved his humor, wit, and sincerity in concert. I was a Chapin follower from the days of Taxi and WOLD, loved Cat's in the Cradle. He started World Hunger, an organization still going strong, feeding hungry right here in the US. I love all his music, especially "Greatest Stories Live". However, all of the ones I see for sale only have one song following "Bananas", and that is "The Shortest Story". My LP has three - "She's Always Seventeen" and "Love is Just Another Word" are the extra two. Have most ofhis other albums. Favorite songs: Taxi, Sequel, Corey's Coming, Dance Band on the Titanic, Tangled Up Puppet, and of course "Finally Found It Sandy".

One of my first albums. And I've replaced it a couple times. Fabulous CD.
school. I won this album from a local radio station about my frosh year in h. I was already a fan of Chapin's, since the early 70s when I first heard his superb song "Taxi. " That and "Cats in the Cradle" should have told me what the man was all about: a passionate, superb storyteller who could produce great music. And when he would pop up on PBS during that time period, I never missed him. Getting this CD was like having the audio of those performances. After seeing him perform live, this album/CD has a whole different feel to it, as you can just picture Harry, his brothers and the rest of the band in position and tearing away at their instruments on cue and w/ precision. While his songs dominate those of his brothers Tom and Steve on this CD- that's the hierarchy of demand, truth be told-even the minor contributions from his brothers like "Let Time Go Lightly" and "Circle" fit perfectly right alongside Harry's masterpieces like "Mr. Tanner," (a song I'd never heard before winning this CD) "A Better Place To Be," and the animated "30,000 Lbs. of Banannas. " The live feel is evident in these performances, but not at the cost of excellent sound quality. There's a couple songs you'd think were studio performances, until the reaction from the audience surfaces. This is just an all around fabulous mile marker in Harry's repertoire. I couldn't believe my luck at winning this CD when I did, and it remained in my collection forever until I updated it with the CD. Since I no longer have the album, I'm a little unsure of what isn't included on the CD version that I've read so many others speak of. But the essentials are here, and worth plunking down a few coins. I know this has nothing to do with my review, but my heart still breaks when I think of Harry being taken at the prime of his life. A real "put his money where his mouth is" guy that you couldn't help but love when you heard him talk between songs. He was any man, and his stories reflected that often. What a lasting legacy to Harry this CD is.

Warning: Not the full album
It's missing two cuts: Love is Just Another Word, and She is Always Seventeen. I love Harry Chapin and this is a great album, but be warned that this CD version is not the full album. I bought this to replace a cassette tape I have had forever and noticed that the number of tracks didn't match. Then I noticed a disclaimer in very small print that these two songs weren't included "due to time restrictions. " Personally, I think this is a bit of a ripoff. To make matters even worse, neither of those songs is available as an MP3 download.
