There is a lot of pain here, from 'Almost' and its sad resignation or doubt found in 'Happy'. I can hardly tell you how wonderful of a find "Let It Rain" is. On the few happy side of it - you'll find 'I'm Yours' and 'Your The One'. While most of it deals with poor relationships situations, its an amazing emotional pull through it. Almost a start to end order interestingly enough - but ending with a happy ending ;).
An American Treasure
Treat yourself to "Let It Rain" (I think the order of the songs on the import version is best). Tracy Chapman is an American treasure whose lyrics and songs tell the poignant story of life. This album is proof that Ms. Chapman just gets better all the time. The breadth of her music, and the depth of feelings is best on these songes: "Another Sun", the defiant "You're the One"; the haunting, grasp at your soul "In the Dark"; "Almost"; "Broken"; and, "Happy". Happy is a favorite, as the vocal arrangement and music are superb.
