Cheap Trick - George Martin At The Helm
Their previous two albums had been huge successes and they roared into the 80's with this release with it's leadoff single "Stop This Game". By the end of the 70's Cheap Trick were on a roll. Legendary Beatles producer George Martin was on hand for this one and considering how influenced Cheap Trick has always been by The Beatles this seemed like a perfect marriage. The result was a bit more of a mixed bag, but like most Cheap Trick albums there are some great individual songs to be found here. The album starts out strong with the first three rocking tracks "Stop This Game", "Just Got Back", and "Baby Loves To Rock". The middle of the album features "World's Greatest Lover" and "High Priest Of Rhythmic Noise" two tracks that are more experimental in nature but for the most part work. The last 3rd of the album takes a bit of a downturn save for the amusing "I Love You Honey, But I Hate Your Friends". "All Shook Up" is a slight step down from "Dream Police" which was a slight step down from "Heaven Tonight". The band was on a bit of a slide, but there is still a lot to like about this album. Original bassist Tom Peterson would split the band after this one for several albums.

One of Cheap Trick's best IMHO
With George Martin (former Beatles producer) on board, they tried some different sounds and it really worked for me. This is one of my favorite offerings from the boys from Rockford Ill! With the addition of the NuDisc songs, it makes this even a better value. I love nearly every song on this album and had to buy it on CD! If you have any questions on whether you should buy it, just do it. You won't be sorry! I have seen them live 4-5 times and would love to see them one more time to relive my younger days! .

Cheap Trick + George Martin = Awesome Album!
The results equal one of my favorite Cheap Trick albums, and I love Cheap Trick so when I say it's probably my favorite release from them that carries some weight. It was a dream come true for uber-Beatles fans Cheap Trick to have George Martin produce an album with them. It might sound odd but I think Heaven Tonight is their "best" album but All Shook Up is probably my "favorite" album, and I can't leave In Color out of the running for either spot because that's outstading as well. Anyway, All Shook Up has some oddball stuff like a Darth Vader-synth voice on "High Priest Of Rhythmic Noise" and a tribal-esque drum chant party on "Who D King. " Add to those a grandiose theme song like "Stop This Game," a couple of old-school rockers like "Just Got Back" and "Baby Loves to Rock," and one of the best power ballads EVER in "World's Greatest Lover" and you have one heck of a record. I have the original 10-song version (after my old LP literally wore out) so I can't comment on the remastering or bonus tracks. I have to mention that "Can't Stop It But I'm Gonna Try," "I Love You Honey But I Hate Your Friends," and "Go For The Throat (Use Your Own Imagination)" are also classic Cheap Trick tunes. There is literally not a bad song on this entire album. Favorite songs: all of the above.

A rather weak album minus the bonus tracks
In my opinion, in what could have been their finest hour in that they had George Martin at their disposal to produce, they just simply did not bring their "A-game". The "Found All the Parts" EP songs as bouns tracks here are what saves this to some degree and makes it worth having. Quite disappoiting when you consider it that way but luckily for all of us they made the great decision to include the "Parts" tracks here. Quite honestly the only other thing on my iPod other than the "Parts" tracks is "Just Got Back". I really don't like any of the other original tracks. Overall the original album as it was is an overproduced, shlocky, cheesy record that lacks any real power or passion. In the liner notes the band and George Martin talk about how "World's Greatest Lover" is the best track here. Well that says it all because that song sucks!! It's an overblown, bombastic, cheesy ballad that has no real punch. The production here is bigger than the songs and I can see why this was a big downturn for CT in terms of their popularity. Don't get me wrong. I'm a big Cheap Trick fan. I just don't know how they went form probably their best record in "Dream Police" to this. Big disappointment, but at least we got "Found All the Parts" remastered.
