Cher - my hero!

This is music to hoover by, it can also be music to chill by. It may be cheese but who cares,
Cher doing a disco/ballad collection all rolled into one.
Life long fan - have seen the lady twice, was very upset when Sophie Ellen Bextor released 'Take me home' and there was no credit to Chers lable at all - IT WAS HER SONG FIRST
Some of it is a little deep but diehard fans of all ages will love it - your collection isn't complete without it.
My mother cringes when 'Shopping' comes droning from my room as she knows I have made lots of purchases! This is the song that describes my excess, 'Hell on wheels' is my disco fave on there.
Check it out.

DISCO AND NEW WAVE CHER
Take Me Home especially. These two albums are actually quite good. From that wild cover photo to the discofied grooves inside this album rocks. And yeah, it has a couple slower songs, 3 to be exact and they are, in my opinion, (take that for what it's worth) some of her best. Does this sound dated today, sort of. Take Me Home, Wasn't It Good and Say The Word all have disco strings and beats, but if you liked it then, you'll like it now.
Git Down Guitar Groupie is kind of goofy, but it's fun, and has a cool melody. That's one of my favorites on the album.

Prisoner is not so much disco as it is new wave. By the time this came out disco was dead and new wave was just beginning. So what does Cher do, changes with the times and records a new wave sounding album. CHeck out Mirror Image and Boys and Girls. They are two really good examples of what I am talking about. Hell ON Wheels is the closest this album comes to disco. It's kind of like Hot Stuff by Donna Summer. It marries a disco beat with hard rock guitars. This was the single and it is a great song. The title song is kind of funky and could have been another hit. Holdin' Out For Love is pure pop. Nice song. Now. . . having said all those good things I need to point out that Shoppin, Outrageous, and Holy Smoke are downright CHEESY. OMG. Shoppin is probably the worst song I have ever heard. Holy Smoke and Outrageous aren't as bad but close. Beware.

Prime Disco Vintage Cher - 70s Roller Boogie Camp!
Extra points for the CD's re-creation of the original LP art, including the Bob Mackie inspired get-ups, WOW! Those were the days!. This is the one Cher compilation that most people don't own, and everyone really should, for it features rare, vintage disco tracks from what I think is Cher's best era, her TAKE ME HOME disco period, featuring other key album tracks like WASN'T IT GOOD, SAY THE WORD, and the amazingly over-the-top- "rock" roller boogie disco opus HELL ON WHEELS! Most people have forgotten these tracks, but they're really worth re-exploring.

TAKE NO PRISONERS HOME !
Both albums (PRISONER and TAKE ME HOME) come directly from the vaults of the disco era in the late 1970s. This compilation is a combination of two vinyl releases. CHER did achieve a top 5 DISCO hit with the a Maxi 12" inch version of the single "TAKE ME HOME". You will also be able to audition the single released from PRISONER. That title track never managed to chart. As her fan base dropped in the late 1970s, Cher began to paint herself as a "ROCK ARTIST" supplying lead vocals to the one album band "BLACK ROSE". Unfortunately, this cd is filled with weak material. It would be a better option for consumers to purchase the cd "BILLBOARD's TOP DISCO 1978". On that compilation you find the CHER single TAKE ME HOME plus various others artists.

A great listen
It captures what Cher is really about. I think that this Cher album is just great. The songs are just great and Cher shows how she can really belt out really good songs.
