Do not listen to I <3 Nickelback
for someone to even mention disturbed or the darkness for death metal is absolutely out of his or her mind, clearly with a name as i <3 Nickelback that ought to tell you something, children of bodom is one of the top death metal bands. clearly this guy doesnt know what he is talking about. they sound great on their albums even better live. .


Children of Bodom puts Finland on the map
Beyond that, Hate Crew Deathroll will blow your mind away. If COB struggle with anything, it's putting absolutely cheesy names on songs and album titles. Alexi Laiho is next to brilliant, putting together raw, complex and unique songs that are the mark of a gifted musician.


Great album from one of the two death metal bands I actually enjoy
I went "Who is this?" and soon found out it was Children of Bodom. Back in June I had tuned into a metal station when "Bodom Beach Terror" had played. Normally I hate death metal, but when I went to the mall later thad day I had stopped in HMV and saw this album on the shelf, so I decided to pick it up. This is a great album!!! I was thinking it was going to be some typical Death Metal album with tuneless guitars and cookie monster vocals, but no, this is MELODIC Death Metal with actual lyrics and screaming as opposed to "I get off on over-the-top gore and so should you" lyrical content.

NEEDELED 24/7: Awesome fast paced opener, definitely gets you all pumped up and ready for what's to come.

SIXPOUNDER: Another excellent track, slower paced but still awesome and has great guitar work.

CHOKEHOLD: Awesome song that is definitely adrenaline starting and has an amazing keyboard solo.

BODOM BEACH TERROR: My favorite track on here. This has some of the coolest and craziest keyboard effects I've ever heard. These guys definitely have a hint of Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers in them, of course they're not as good as the 3 guitarists I mentioned, but still great guitarist.

ANGELS DON'T KILL: Slower but still heavy and hard hitting. Great lyrics too.

TRIPLE CORPSE HAMMERBLOW: Awesome intro, definitely has some of the best guitar work and drumming too,

YOU'RE BETTER OFF DEAD: Fast song, great lyrics and the "Whoaaaa" part during the chorus is great.

LIL BLOODRED RIDIN' HOOD: Adrenaline pumping song, but probably the weakest on the album.

HATE CREW DEATH ROLL: Awesome closer, and if you listen to the last 3 minutes after the song ends, you'll hear the band having a bit too much fun. . .

HCDR is a great album and while I don't like Death Metal, this is definitely great heavy music if you're angry. A high reccomend!.

Children Of Bodom are an interesting stylistic hybrid-one which borrows heavily from many of the guitar-driven, shred-happy bands of the '80s thrash movement (Megadeth, Metallica, Yngwie Malmsteen) pays homage to the early NWOBHB (Sabbath, Iron Maiden) and incorporates elements of the newer melodic power and metalcore scene (Soilwork, Killswitch Engage, etc.

A violent, churning maelstrom of Finnish vitriolic aggression, COB are a bit much to take in at first. . . despite pretty asinine Beavis and Butthead-esque lyrics, these guys really make it work. The lyrical content is really almost irrelevant; merely and excuse for incredible young guitarist and frontman Alexi Laiho to tear into his guitar with wild abandon. Any fan of metal should really check this one out. Despite feeling like I'm slumming, I can't keep this one out of my player (laughs) Recommended!.
