Set Your Goals
Fans of modern pop punk bands should get ahold of albums like this to not only for historical purposes but to see how bands like CIV do it better. Carrying on in the tradition of his previous band, the Gorilla Biscuits, CIV (the band and the individual) bring you an album of fun youth crew esque hardcore but with a slightly more pop punk edge/sheen added on to it. .

Solid debut
I'm suprised at how fresh this sounds still, and is almost like what GB would have sounded like had they made a second LP. I hadn't heard this record since about '96 other than the 2 Revelation Records singles that I still occasionally spin, but the upcoming Gorilla Biscuits reunion made me pull this one out again. This record was completely written by Walter Schriefels (GB, Youth of Today, Quicksand etc) and the band was his concept, although he's not credited and was not an "official" member. So, this is basically a Walter record, and a good one at that. It seems like yesterday that I was singing along to these guys at Warped tour '95! 3. 5 stars.

CIV Set your goals
Great to hear it again on the Nissan commercial. Loved it when it first came out. Civ you are a real guy and i like that.
Always a fan. Dawn .

Classicaly influenced NYHC
lots of one word gang vocals and break downs. great CD. theres a song written by luke of warzone, too. When they were together they were afiliated with H20 as well as the rest of the NY hardcore scene. the other album is less hardcore, and more commercial sounding, this is the one to get.

set your goals
this is one of my favorite cd's ever! all you complainers out their. . civ is not gorilla buiscut, deal with it. set your goals is an upbeat insparational plesure to listen and dance to. i never get sick of it, i can have it in the cd player for weeks because every song has a different style. it instantlly makes me feel good when i listen to it.
