Just Adding My Part
I think knowing the musicians BEFORE buying the CD gives the buyer more information that he/she would would like to know. There are so many customer reviews reviewing this CD but none of them list the musicians. So the musicians are for this CD, Eric Clapton with on #1 Gary Brooker (keys, vocals); Rich Cotile (synth); Laurence Cotile (bass); Henry Spinnetti (drums); all other tracks, Greg Phillinganes (keys, vocals); Nathan East (bass); Phil Collins (drums, vocals, percussion); Michael Brecker, Jon Faddis, Randy Brecker, Dave Bargerone (horns); Katie Kissoon, Tessa Niles, Magic Moreno, Tina Turner (vocals); Rich Feldman (keys). Enjoy this disc!.

HIT AND MISS FROM E.C. IN THE 1980'S
C. 1980'S OUTPUT FROM ERIC CLAPTON, SOME OF THE SONGS ARE GREAT, SOME OF THEM STINK, UNEVEN BUT OVERALL PRETTY GOOD R&R ALBUM FROM E. THE BEST SONGS ARE THE FIRST THREE ON THE ALBUM. . . . . . . . . . . . MY FAVORITE CUT IS (YOU'RE ) TEARING US APART' WITH THE GREAT TINA TURNER SINGING BACKUP WITH SLOWHAND.
.

Terrific collection of Clapton's songs
" The other songs were very good, too, if not quite up to those two. Well worth buying- I especially liked "Holy Mother" and "it's in the Way That You Use it. No Clapton fan should be without this album.

Clapton screws his fanbase again

But like a comedy actor trying for a career as a serious actor in drama, Clapton decided to abandon his guitar virtuosity in favour of "songs". Once upon a time in the 1960s Eric Clapton was the orginal British guitar hero (with Jeff Beck) Although the graffiti of "Clapton is God" may seem rather amusing today it does give an indication of the impact he made. If he had exceptional songwriting skills this might be acceptable. (It's not impossible; Pete Townshend went from a guitar smashing rocker to writing complex rock operas withing a few years. ) But Clapton doesn't. August is composed of nondescript, easily digestible songs that are *very* 1980s in their antiseptic, plastic way. There are some moments of guitar brilliance scattered throughout, but this album is easily forgotten about. Like Elvis fans wanting good albums, not bad movies,or John Cleese fans wanting more good comedy, not cameos in films, Clapton abandons what he was good at for easily forgotten synth laden mediocrity. (Phil Collins produced this, which as anyone who lived in the 1980s can testify is worrying indeed) The only memorable song here is Tearing Us Apart. Other than that. . . hmmm I dunno, I've forgotten already.
