The perfect blend of hard, blues, funk, and stoner rock!
The music is a mix of hard rock, stoner rock, funk, and blues (think Cactus meets Monster Magnet). This is good, ol' fashioned blues rock music at its best. The music is exceptionally well done and surprisingly original. The singer, Neil Fallon, has a limited vocal range that's deep, raspy, and powerful (think Dave Wyndorf of Monster Magnet). However, he distinguishes himself in that he writes some of the most incredibly intelligent and bazaar lyrics you'll hear in modern music today. For example, on the song 'The Mob Goes Wild', he sings: "Everybody move to Canada and smoke lots of pot. Everybody move to Canada right now. Here's how we do it. Bum rush the border guard before he and his dog ever knew it. " That might not sound like brainy lyrics until you get to the refrain: " 21 guns, box made of pine. Letter from the government, sealed and signed. Delivered Federal Express, on your mother's doorsteps. " Now if that isn't imagery, I don't know what is.

For me, the lyrics are the real highlight. Normally I never listen to the lyrics, just the music. But Clutch is one of the very few bands I actually enjoy paying attention to the lyrics because they are so entertaining. Like Dave Wyndorf during one of his infamous live rants, Neil's lyrics initially sound like an unrelated stream of words and phrases, but then your realize that all the words fit together brilliantly. Kind of like a built in reward when you get the full picture. Add to this the excellent music that is perfectly balanced, never too heavy and never repetitive or boring. There is a amazing amount of variation in their remarkably consistent sound that will keep you entertained from beginning to end. I can't recommend this enough to anyone that likes great body groovin', party goin', rock-and-roll music.

Awesome Sauce
Neil Fallon's unconventional lyrical delivery combined with the band's multi-influenced musical talent, makes for a thick, layered sound that's big on style and deep in roots. Hardcore Music + Blues Jam Band = Clutch. Think Led Zeppelin meets Black Sabbath.

Oh Yeayahaaaaa!
It's super gooderly too and might be the supergooderliest CD of all time, except maybe some of the other supergooderly Clutch albums. This CD is a music CD, with tracks and riffs and lyrics and such.

New to Clutch, pleasantly suprised
My only previous experience to Clutch consists of "Escape from the Prison Planet" and "100011. . ". Blast Tyrant demonstrates that the band knows what they are good at, and exploits their strengths whenever possible. Some bands try to force it, but Clutch is obviously comfortable getting into a rocking groove which seems to have sustained them for several albums. I can't compare Blast Tyrant to their other releases, but it made me interested in seeking out their other releases. Key tracks include "Profits of Doom" and "Mob Goes Wild", but the masterpiece of this album is "(Notes From The Trial Of) La Curandera". If you are a fan of rock (especially under chemical influence), you will love this album. .

This is Clutch!
But this one is still my favorite.
I own all of Clutch's albums.

It is the perfect mix of Rock Metal & grove. It's like what Monster Magnet did to Acid Rock.
This is high quality smoking grooves with a touch of the South. I have never grown tired of this one.
Every track is outstanding. And I think it is one of the better produced & focused efforts from the boys.
