They think listeners are easy to please, anyway
In 1998, they had only this to show, a single with three tracks and half a song. In 2008, Coldplay's still struggling to add some meaning to their style, with their meaning and especially their style showing significant growth thanks to their union with Brian Eno. "Brothers & Sisters" proves that they can all play well enough--although at this point they didn't have the meandering confidence which produced "Lost!" or even something like "White Shadows"--but they can't really do much more than play. Chris Martin's taking himself too seriously, formulating lyrics like "What if cards don't go my way/Then it's sure to spoil my day," where even the first part is a rhetorical question stated just because it seems like the verse should open with a question--although to his credit the same song opens with "A cardboard head I see/Has found its way to me," which doesn't mean anything, but at least it sounds interesting. Which actually sums up a lot of the group's work. If you disagree, listen to "Easy to Please," the center piece of these tracks: its dreaminess falters if one listens to the lyrics too closely, and it's completely shattered by the background noises the group nervously added to ensure that the dreaminess remain intact, or to feel sure it was there at all. At least now I get the early Radiohead comparisons--and also why serious Radiohead fans would like to slit Martin's falsetto-spewing throat. .


A nice edition to your Coldplay library.
It is quite enjoyable and has much in common with their first album in way of lyrical themes and overall sound. Well, here's Coldplay's first release or you. I find it a bit curious that none of these songs found their way onto CP's first record. They would have been better served and more appreciated there, but just as well. These are very good songs at a very fair price. So enjoy!.

Its short but ColdPlay rocks and I own them all.

Love the track "Easy to Please". This re-issue of the rare EP is simply superb. The EP is an early sign of what makes them so big today. The songwriting skills and musicability never lets up even up to today.

I you don't have them, definitely get the albums that follow. Brothers & Sisters is an unbelievable predecessor, a taste if you will, of the things to come!!! 'Superstition' was my fav title off the CD. In order: 1-Parachutes/2-Rush of Blood to the Head/3-X&Y.
