New songs make this worthwhile The extras showed some cool things like Chris Martin singing in the shower with his clothes on :D, the band kicking it in a little harder on "Trouble" (very unexpected, wished they did it more often), the psycho fan in LA who tried to jump the fence :? and the multiple angles of all the band members. For me the most enjoyable parts of this CD/DVD comp were on the DVD (had gotten a preview of the songs on LaunchCast so i knew what to expect sonically from the band). From the CD side of things, there wasn't that much difference between the studio & live versions aside from crowd participation, so the newer songs, "Moses", "One I Love", & "See You Soon" are most welcome. All in all, a good addition to the catalog.
Must-have for Coldplay fans
The studio versions seem so one-dimensional and lack the depth and fullness of the live versions. In my opinion, Coldplay music is so much better live. And they haven't made many of the live performances available on DVD so this is really a gem. Although the live DVD performance isn't as dynamic as the newer (2006 Canadian concert or 2009 Viva la Vida) concerts, it is always great to be able to see them play their guitars and piano, belt out the lyrics and interact with the crowd. Chris Martin seems to have really come into his own, becoming more comfortable commanding the stage and the audience as the years went by. For the hardcore fan, the DVD was shot with multiple angles which is included on the DVD as a feature so that you can see Jonny on lead, Guy on bass, Will on drums and Chris all at the same time.
I feel I got far more than my money's worth at $18 for this set.
Live Coldplay
The CD is sounds great. I love this CD and DVD set. It is an awesome cd to take a long drive with. The DVD is nice for background noise at home. I highly recommend this purchase for anyone who enjoys Coldplay. The live noises are a great touch to their songs.
Awful sound quality
If that isn't your thing, feel free to ignore my comments. For the sake of avoiding getting this review tagged as unhelpful, my comments are geared specifically towards "audiophile"-types who are very concerned with the quality of sound reproduction.
I really enjoy Coldplay, but the sound quality here is unforgivable. I couldn't bring myself to listen to much of it on my high-end system. For Coldplay fans who are also audio freaks, this album is not for you. .
