My Piano Hero Commander Cody - House of Blue Lights made me what I am today!
And I listened to this every day in the late 70's, for a long long time. This album was in my Brother's collection from his journeys across the country driving big rigs.
I was in my high school drill team, high kick squad and needed an awesome tune to make it from Lieutenant to Captain of the Arrowettes. So, I used the House of Blue Lights from Commander Cody to try out for Captain in my senior year. OF COURSE I WON!!!! The people did'nt know what hit em. !!! What a song!
ROCK ON WITH YO BAD SELF COMMANDER! My piano idol:)
I also used to play a piano set and sing at Bill Kirchen's open mic nights in Northern Virginia the Lost Planet Airmen's awesome guitar player. Bill is a great guy and is always ready to help a budding star. Love ya!
THANKS GUYS!.

Timeless western swing, rockabilly, and boogie-woogie
By this stage of their run, the band had honed their chops to a fine edge and this collection was probably their high water mark as a band. An absolutely killer set of tunes by The Commander and the boys. One of my favorite things about this CD is the fantastic pedal steel guitar work of Ernie Hagar. That guy smokes! Also, this CD has the original (and IMO best) versions of "Don't Let Go" and "House of Blue Lights. " Those two cuts alone are worth the price of the CD, but you also get the two western swing masterpieces "Four or Five Times" and "That's What I Like About the South. " Some of the other cuts are very good as well. Nice steel on "Hawaii Blues" and "Southbound" has a relaxed Grateful Dead feel. I've listened to this CD for years (still have my vinyl copy, actually) and continue to go back to it. .

Good Rockin
This is the second time I have bought it because someone took my first copy. I love this CD. .

Thomas Earl
It has everything they are great at. The very first Commander Cody album I ever owned and got to say one of my favorites. Boogie Woogie, Rockabilly, Rock and straight forward country. One of the best versions of "Willin" I ever heard. I picked this album up in the 70's because I love the cover art and was so surprised on how great an album it was. So glad to see it out on cd. If you are a Cody fan, this one is for you. If not, it will make you a Commander Cody fan for sure.

Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen
I first heard this album when it came out, and it is still one of the best examples of this type of music. This Album is an excellant eclectic mix of country and swing tunes from the past. Billy C. Farlow,(not listed on the cover) is the best singer of old-time country music. This album , and Joe Jackson's work in this area, are the best music of this type. .
