Love Chris Cornell, but not this album
Chris Cornell is one of the best voices out there and could sing the phone book and I'd listen. When I looked at the review numbers, I was surprised at how evenly they're spaced between 1-5 stars. I am not, however, a big fan of this sound. I love that Cornell is not afraid to do something different and maybe even just have fun making an album. I do hope that his next album is more like his former albums so that I can enjoy his voice and edgy style again. I'm afraid this won't be an album I'll be listening to, but am still a loyal fan who is willing to wait patiently for Cornell's next project and keep listening to his former work in the meantime.

Invece no! vi sembrerà incredibile, ma questo scream è il miglior lavoro di tutta la sua carriera, da ascoltare tutto di un fiato lasciando perdere il suo passato, senza confrontare tutto quello che ha preceduto questo lavoro, e con questo spirito amerete ed ascolterete più volte Chris cantare questi bellissimi pezzi. Se devo essere sincero, la prima volta cho ho ascoltato questo cd mi sono irritato abbastanza,l'abbandono completo del rock per un genere decisamente più leggero, mi ha fatto pensare alla fine di questo grande cantante. .


Flaming dung heap
Wow, what a mistake! I could only get through the first three tracks. I saw this disc in a store, and figured I'd buy it based on Cornell's past work.

There was a time when Mr. Cornell could write and perform a good pop/rock hook with some ballsey vocals. Those days may be over. This album is just another example of today's quasi-R&B dominated by studio tricks and electronics.

I'm guessing the depiction of Cornell smashing a guitar on the cover represents his disavowment of rock 'n' roll.

One good thing about the disc is that it works well as an ice scraper for my car.


The Way the Industry Is Going
As trends have shown, rock is falling by the wayside, and hip hop is the modern pop. Chris Cornell, world famous grunge-rock god, presents Scream, a collaboration with Timbaland. Thus, Cornell is adapting to modern culture.

I can certainly appreciate a man who has been in the industry for decades and is still trying new things. Cornell isn't afraid to step out of his comfort zone and take risks, even those that might not bring a profit. However, there are a few reasons why this step doesn't work for me. The most glaring problem is that Cornell's amazing voice is stifled with this mellow music style. It is ironic that the album is called Scream, because Cornell does none of it here. Don't expect to be blown away by his musical talents.

He is practically crooning, a subdued and relaxing vocal method best suited for singers with a limited range and weak control. And if Cornell's intention was to put across powerful lyrics by downplaying his vocals, it is hard to tell with the thumping beat behind every song.

Do not expect any standout songs from this CD. It is satisfactory as background music, but will hardly become a favorite.


Love it
Come into it with an open mind without expectations - a great album, loved it the first time.
