One of their best
Just like August and Everything After, I can play this CD over and over again and not get tired of it. If I can put a CD in and let it play nonstop, over and over again, to me thats the sign of a great album. Im no music reviewer but this CD has, in my opinion, alot of the grittiness that made August and Everything after so appealing. Its not some effort to make a bubble-gum record. If youre a true fan of their music, youll love this CD.

A Aquired Taste
It was not so much that it was disgusting, it was just that I did not get it. When I was little, I hated Coffee. it was so different from anything I had tried before. A few more sips of coffee later and i could not put the stuff down.

So, when I turned on 1492, my mouth dropped. This was not Counting Crows. This was a bit heavier than alot of there stuff. I did not like it for the simple fact that I was not used to it. But, as iA listened to the album again and again, i think I udnerstood what "Saturday nights, and Sunday Mornings' is really about.

Alot of bands like to do the same style of music, over and over again. This is not the case for this album. Alot of bands like to totally change their sound, this is not the case with this Album. This Album shows a evolution of the Counting Crows, and features the widest range of music styles I have seen on a Counting Crows Album.

Without a doubt, "Cowboys" is the best song on the album. The Adam's lyrics and voals are filled with so much anger and emotion, you can't help but me moved by it. "When I Dream of Michael Angelo" is another one of my favorites. And, the fact we cango from 'Cowboys to the lovely balled "Le Ballet D'or" is incredible. "Le Ballet D'or" is another different song for the Crows. As much as I hate to admit it, I cried the first time I heard it.

The one song I really do not like on this album is "On a Tuesday in Amsterdam Long Ago" really overstays its welcome. I am not too crazy about "Anyone But you". It starts out great, but the end just gets weird. I also find that some of the guitar solos in "Cowboys" and "1492" seem a bit self-indulgent at times (Don't get me wrong, I love these two songs)

I think this might be the best Counting Crows album since "Recovering the Satellites. " What makes this album for me is how great the great songs are. Even the weaker songs still have something to offer This album shows the range of styles of the Counting Crows, and is worth a buy.

Not their best
The Saturday half is just noisy and the Sunday half felt watered down. After repeated listening I would say Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings is not their finest work. The overall album seemed weak. That said, some bright spots I really enjoyed were Insignificant, which was vintage, and Le Ballet d'Or, which was just beautiful. If you're a fan there's no reason not to pick this up. Just don't expect too much.

Wonderful as always
I am a huge fan of their unique sound. The CC could never disappoint and they didn't with this album. This is a great addition to their discography. I highly recommend it.

Classic Counting Crows
It is the same sound I fell in love with more than 15 years ago; just new favorite songs to sing along with. They may have taken quite a hiatus before releasing this latest full length CD, but they do not miss a beat. Very glad I bought it.
