The Top
The lyrics are quite avantgarde and to be honest for most of the time I have no idea what Robert Smith is singing about. The Top was the Cure's 1984 release and their 5th studio album and it sure is experimental and contained the hit "The Caterpillar". The booklet has some weird graphics on the front and the lyrics are quite difficult to read. 3/5.

Highly underrated, truly AMAZING.
It is a MUST for any devoted Cure fan. This is one of The Cure's most experimental records ever, and I absolutely love it. I feel that this cd deserves a lot more respect and attention. It is creative and fun with a twist of darkness and morbidity; two everlasting characteristics of the band itself. .

(Be A) Spinning Top
Anticipating Mr. This is Bob Smith and crew (mostly him playing everything, I suspect) at their psychedelic best. Smiths collaboration with Steve Severin on The Glove- this is a flat-out candy romp of fun stuff. Along the way there are some very well crafted songs. Have a Snack!.

Great remaster but one problem
Only one problem: Bananafishbones is at the wrong speed. The remastering on this CD is quite a step up from the original pressing.

A 1980s classic, but best left to Cure fans
But, for those of us who like the band, we can appreciate how they fit the music. Robert's very uncomfortable vocals on this record make it unlistenable for most people who aren't Cure fans.

This record has some great songs, like Piggy in the Mirror. That's one of my very favorite of the band's songs. Give Me It is one track I always skip, however.

The record is very rooted in the 80s, though, and unlike Pornography, a record that wasn't well-liked when it came out, this one doesn't seem like it suits the taste of the current generation. There's not enough angst and it's not mainstream, either.
