A couple of excellent tracks that will blow you away
The album kicks off with a real hard rock wet dream by the name of "Don't tread on me". Damn Yankees was a rather short lived project (released only two albums) and "Don't tread" from 1992 is the second one. This song have everything from a hard, heavy and attractive guitar riff to beautiful harmonies sung by Blades and Shaw, and it is a great example of excellent song writing as well as excellent performance. Another gem is the very groovy and catchy "Dirty dog" with it's majestic chorus. These two songs alone are enough to buy this album. In the speedy "Firefly", the guys put in overdrive and travel down the road of rock in 125 mph, keeping enough melody to prevent them from ending up in the ditch. An album featuring Jack Blades from Night Ranger must include a couple of ballads, and "Where you goin' now" is alright even `tho we've heard it all before more than once, especially since it follows the blue print for ballads in this genre. In the song "Double coyote", it seems the guys are inspired by Elvis among other heroes from the early days of rock `n' roll as well as Status Quo's anthem boogie style (sic!). Don't be surprised if you think you hear bits and pieces of The Doors' "Roadhouse blues". The closing and rather speedy "Uprising" together with "Fifteen minutes of fame" are slightly above average while "Mister please" and "Silence is broken" are rather mediocre and uninteresting. The proper rating should end somewhere between 3 strong stars or 4 weaker once.

Another Great Record From The Yanks
" This time, there are a few less-than-stellar cuts, but overall, this is another great record that makes you wonder why they didn't do another album. DON'T TREAD is another great record, including such songs as the stay-out-of-my-backyard anthem title track and the reflective ballads "Where You Goin' Now" and "Silence Is Broken.

Don't Neglect

It is as damn as their debut album in 1990 and one of my all time bests as well. Don't Tread released in 1992 is the great sophomore effort by Damn Yankees who are made up of tough-guy superstars such as Jack Blades of Night Ranger, Tommy Shaw of Styx and Ted Nugent rock-n-roll beast icon. Damn Yankees as a whole is predominantly
Night Ranger minus keyboard, partly Survivor partly Styx with extra damnness.

My first pick is Where Are You Going Now, first single from this album. It is as if popped out from Survivor's Vital Signs(boy it is also produced by Ron Nevison). And Silence Is Broken, Zep&Purple styled Mister Please. Rockers such as Fifteen Minutes of Fame, mid-tempo tracks such as Dirty Dog, Someone to Believe
are fine as well.

Why such great album has been treated so damn bad by classic rock market?.
