Too short...
the rest of DK" debate with a ten foot pole, but all you need to know is this:

There is NO REASON for a Dead Kennedys best of to be THIS SHORT!!!

The band had way more than 12 good songs, and there is no reason for a DK best-of comp to be under 40 minutes. I'm not going to touch the whole "Jello vs.

You not buying this helps get the message across that if the record companies wanna get our money for a DK best of, the least they can do is FILL THE DISC!.

Hey outraged rightous complainers, the point of this is to review
Something that you all managed to avoid completely. to music contained, not bicker over the politics of why it came into existance.

Try to act like whether or not a person, like me, with mininal familiarity with DK would enjoy or find this collection of tracks interesting and why.

As for me, I'm aware that is a collection of, excuse the term, popular tracks but haven't actual heard most of them. Try to impress me why I would benefit from purchasing this.

Depressing and Unnecessary
All you get are 10 previously released songs and two collector-bait live tracks that are just outtakes from "Mutiny on the Bay," and if those weren't even good enough to be included on there, what does that tell you? Sorry Ray, but it's stuff like this that makes me think you really were the bad guy after all. From the shabby sub-40 minute running length to the awful artwork, it's obvious that Manifesto Records was actually being truthful when they gave this piece of product its "ironic" title.

What a ripoff! Oi! Oi! Oi!
im not against greatest hits sets, as long as the dont include new songs (what a rip that always is) or they dont disgrace the bands back catalogue. it was inevitable wasn't it? so maybe jello was screwing the rest of the band out of royalties (mind you they wanted to claim writing credits for the songs, (mtv get off the air being one of them) and then they said that they were being ripped off coz jello didnt promote the songs and get them on mtv) but you can see why he wanted to protect the catalogue. unfortunately, the three other DKs have done just that and offered up a minimal amount of tracks on this ripoff cd. dont remember them this way, go get give me convenience, plastic surgery disasters or fresh fruit.

I Thought It Wasn't About the Money
Jello Biafra had a "DK C'est Moi" haughty attitude for the shelf life of the Dead Kennedys, and bascially forced the rest of the band into taking a vow of poverty by tying them to his indy record label, Alternative Tentacles. I, for one, am going to buy this CD. The band could have done so much more business, but Jello didn't want to "sell out. "

Now, all of a sudden, Jello is Mr. Capitalist Materialist Scrooge, bent on suing his former bandmates for daring to make a buck off their own music!

Good for them, I say! How does it feel, Jello, to see someone else get some credit and spending cash for a change? His bandmates DESERVE those royalties Jello screwed them out of for years!.
