The Dead Milkmen: The Original Beastie Boys
What a band this was. Before the Beastie Boys were dropping lines and being total snots, The Dead Milkmen were in full swing, releasing Big Lizard in My Backyard.

You can almost call this band a novelty band. But the novelty shtick is avoided, thanks to great chemistry between the musicians, and lyrics, depending on who you are, never get tired of. Some of these lines are classic. "I don't wanna go to the beach, NO FUN!!!". Tiny Town uses satire to make fun of the south. ______ Camaro begins with a jazzy bass line featuring Joe and Rodney yammering away like typical teenagers (you know, where you just talk randomly), then gets to the main part, a song mostly about running over people with it. Taking Retards to the Zoo is the most idiotic and pointless song ever created. Yet you just can't get enough of music like this.

You probably can't imagine much about the music. It's a bit punk, but with surprises (Gorilla Girl, Beach Song). The music is pretty light-hearted, unlike many punk bands, who's sole purpose to sound angry. Joe Jack Talcum and Rodney Anonymous deliver the snottiest pair of voices, even more than The Beastie Boys. You really probably shouldn't get this soley for the music, because you'll probably get bored because they don't play solos. They don't use ambiance. They don't. . . well, never mind. The lyrics and music go hand in hand. As a whole, the songs on this album rule.

If your a complete stiff, you won't like any of this. If you are into exclusively deep music, you won't like this. But, if you think The Bloodhound Gang and Ween (both from Pennsylvania like TDM) are funny, well, it goes without saying.

give to the gorilla girl, gobs and gobs of love/no one else will touch that girl, unless they wore a glove
is "big Lizard" a classic? yep. this album is like the straight A student who gets all the credit, love and praise, while the rest of the brothers and sisters,(bucky fellini, eat yr paisely, metaphysical graffitti) are the red-headed stepchildren. hilarious? you betcha. the only album worth owning? no effin' way. in my opinion, 'big liz' is the gateway drug, the reefer if you will, which leads to much better stuff. 'plumb dumb' and 'deans dream' are two of their best songs, as are 'serrated edge,' 'vfw' 'bitchin' camaro' and the title track. just don't stop here; you'd be missing out on a lot.


the one album every "punk rocker" has owned at least 3 times in their lives
definately had to come out in '84. there is no way this album could ever be put out these days. I mean could you see any band doing aids jokes and getting away with it? well, the milkmen did. has anyone ever noticed the references to f. o. d? "my parents said if i eat all my food then i can go to hardcore show and see f. o. d. "-nutrtion. there's another reference to them on a live recording of "milkmen stomp". just curious.


Best album from one of the best bands
Day-OM! This rekkid ought to be thought of as a classic, it has Laundromat Song, Bitchin' Camaro, Violent School, Nutrition, Dean's Dream, almost every track is freaking awesome and its 23 tracks long! If you don't have this album, well, you suck.


And you should see the way it poops...
This is the best crappy little punk band ever. . This record is just one that you can't get sick of. Great music for anything! "I don't wanna go on the beach, NO FUN!!" Haha!.
