A snot-rock classic for the ages
There is nothing boring about Beelzebubba, though. I recall when this album came out, many had written off the Dead Milkmen for constantly repeating the same themes over and over again, only in more and more boring fashion. Even though this album didn't break any new ground, its execution was just about flawless. Production values were tight; musicianship was extremely solid; as a result the lads from Philadelphia never sounded better. And of course Rodney's lyrics were searingly-funny, especially when skewering drunken semi-adults (Brat in the Frat) or hippies (Smoking Banana Peels) or life in Appalachia (Stuart) adolescence (Bleach Boys), miscellaneous topics (Sri Lanka Sex Hotel) or even themselves (Punk Rock Girl). Those annoying ventures into the surreal (as in "I Walk the Thinnest Line") were largely absent, and the album benefited considerably as a result. .

I'm So Bored I'm Drinking Bleach
I heard the song Punk Rock Girl on college radio years ago and I was hooked. This is the first punk or alternative album I ever purchased and I love it to this day. In my opinion this was the Dead Milkmen's best album; a little more sophisticated than the earlier work but still completely irreverent. It also has their best album cover.

Punk Rock Girl was probably their biggest song but I can say I like every song on this album and that is saying a lot with seventeen tracks. Anyone with a flippant attitude should enjoy this one although some of the references are dated. For one thing, Bob Hope died (see Sri Lanka Sex Hotel). This was something they could fix in later live performances when Rodney Anonymous would play with the lyrics.

Stuart still seems to be very popular. They did songs of this type on later albums: Cousin Earl, I Dream of Jesus and Peter Bazooka.

"We'll all get new shoes...
. When Ringo Buys a Rifle. " Great Album, been listening to The Milkmen since High school(class of '91). This album is my favorite DM.

Greatest Lyrics Ever
"We jumped into a car;
Away we started rollin';
I asked "how much you pay for this?";
She said "nothin' man, it's stolen. . "

if this is the only album you have/want, you're missing out
By far their most popular, thank you "punk Rock Girl" and "Smokin. . ", this in no way matches other releases. I personally think it's one of their most uneven; the songs are either classic, "PRG" "I walk the. . . " "Stuart", or instantly forgettable: "I against Osborne," "Howard Beware," even "Smokin. . . is kinda weak. Makes you wander why they didn't use some of the b-sides from it's EP on the album. Don't get me wrong, it's classic DM, i'm just trying to give some of the more unsung records some shine.
